Can someone give me a quick heads up on AMD processors - what one is the newest one, performances etc.

I see they have the Athlon 64 FX, 64 Dual Core and simply 64. I'm guessing 64 FX is TOTR stuff?

I currewntly have an Athlon 64 3400+. But Im going to upgrade.

The only way to go at the moment is the Intel Core Duo.
Even the cheaper ones are wiping the floor with the best AMDs.

Intel have finally got their fingers out the arse and decided to step up to 64bit.
And theyve done it with sheer style.

But to answer your question the FX is the top range for AMD at the moment.
Although Im sure they'll hit back with an Intel competitor in the next year or so.

Its an interesting time for Processor developement at the moment! smile.gif

There are some cracking prices on the A64's as a result of intels chip, a SD4000 which cost over £200 a few months ago is now under £100, the dual core chips are all slashed in price to compete.

But as Matt says, the intel core2duo's wipe the floor with them.
