Full Version: Edinburgh Ticket Sales

Sorry not to add this to the existing thread but thought it deserved a thread of its own.

The public sale ticketing for Edinburgh today was an absolute disgrace. 230 tickets were made available at Tynecastle this morning, from the 20,000 available for public sale according to the SFA.

Now, I am aware that Edinburgh, even as the capital city, is smaller than Glasgow. I can even accept 3 outlets compared to 1 being available in Glasgow this morning.

But Edinburgh receiving 1% of the total available allocation? That is preposterous and indefensible.

I was lucky enough to get off my arse and arrive at Tynecastle (after a horrible game not so far away!) at 5am this morning and get a ticket nae probs.

Sadly, we had forseen a miserly allocation for Edinburgh Scotland supporters. I feel sorry for those that queued in a smallish queue for 3 hours to be turned away.

If there is any arguement towards an SFA bias in favour of Glasgow I think it was proved today as I am sure the situation in Inverness and Aberdeen was just as sad.

A bleak day for Scottish football.

There were about the same number at Parkhead apparently. Was Easter Road not doing them too?

I believe the figure was roughly similar at Tannadice.

There's a strong rumour circulating that nearly half of them were kept by United for players & staff.

Disgrace if it's true.

According to sources each location was given almost 500 tickets, so what happened to the other 200+ tickets?

There was nowhere near 20,000 public tickets laugh.gif God knows where you got that from.

Scotland Supporters Club took up 32,000 before the sale, French will bring around 3-5,000, and the suits, players families etc will take up another 5,000. You'd be lucky if there was 10,000 public sale tickets across Scotland today.

I drove by Tynecastle at 08.50 this morning and there was around 1000 people waiting then.

If you take the time to read my post you may discover the answer to your question.

Apologies, I just skim-read, but even still, I forward that question to the SFA!

That's what you get for being glory hunters. Good on the SFA for ensuring that the tickets went to the REAL supporters who follow Scotland through thick and thin.

I've always wondered this...say for example next season Rangers and celtic were in the bottom half of the table for most of the season what sort of crowds would they get?? 20000 maybe? They certainly would not get the crowds they normally get!

As for Hibs, I remember going to Easter Road for a 1st division game and there was a crowd of nearly 15000. smile.gif We must have had about 2000 fans through that day.
Would there be that many for a Rangers game in the 1st division? laugh.gif

I'm sure you and your like-minded Clydebank fans managed to get your England tickets with relative ease.

Well done.
