Full Version: Scotland V France Tickets On Ebay

Fed up with tickets appearing on Ebay for vastly inflated prices? It is actually against Ebay policy. If you see one, you can ask Ebay to remove it biggrin.gif . You need to be logged in to Ebay, then go to the following page:

http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/contact_us/_base/index.html

Choose the right options (Prohibited (banned) items > Event tickets > Football tickets) then click the email us link. You simply paste in the item number and ebay does the rest.

The actual Ebay policy is listed below:

The resale of tickets for football matches is highly regulated in England and Wales for a number of reasons, including security at sports events. Criminal law often prohibits the resale of such football tickets. For these reasons, all listings for football tickets to association football matches occurring in England or Wales, or involving an English or Welsh national or club team playing outside England or Wales, are prohibited.

In addition, all listings for tickets to association football matches occurring anywhere in the world that are part of a competition or tournament organised by FIFA or UEFA and that an English or Welsh national or club team has participated in, or is eligible to participate in, are also prohibited.

For the avoidance of doubt this prohibition includes (without limitation) the following matches:

* English Premiership, Football League, Football Conference and League of Wales matches
* World Cup and European Championships matches (including qualifying rounds)
* International matches played in England or Wales (including friendlies)
* Friendlies involving England or Wales

eBay may allow authorised sellers to list football tickets to these matches, but only through prior written agreement with eBay.

Who gives a f**k? The game is a sell out, the tickets will go one way or another.

Do we know if this guy has a prior agreement with eBay? Does anyone know what form this agreement takes?

Who is to say that someone with money prepared to pay for the tickets is any less deserving than one of these tartan wearing face painted foot-soldier types who also missed out on a ticket?

Are any of you moaning minnies actually going to the game? If so, why get your knickers in a twist?
binobear
just reported the scum bag -yes he'll get them sold one way or another but no going to make it easy for him

The point is that one of the reasons tickets sell out so fast is because people who have no plans on actually going to the game purchase them with the sole intention of selling them for a profit. This goes equally well for concerts etc. Why does T in the Park sell out in less than an hour? Why do the tickets for the Scotland game sell out so quickly?

I am not saying they won't sell out quickly anyway. I think that if people are unable to resell them on ebay easily, in future they will not buy them, and leave them for people who actually plan to go.

It's because people cannot get tickets they are moaning.

Not on this thread apparently wink.gif

Sounds to me like a bunch of moaning halfwits who have just dobbed someone in for doing something that is not illegal.

Would you buy a £30 Scottish Cup final ticket for your club on eBay for say, £60?

Would you be happy if some self important fanny had your winning bid invalidated because they didn't think someone had the right to sell it on? What makes football tickets (or concert tickets) sacred? Was there an outcry regarding the re-selling of Xbox 360s last christmas? Some folk bought up a few to sell on eBay, depriving others of a new games console. Surely it's the same thing?

1) Because touts are getting so out of hand it's almost impossible to see some events at the price you are meant to. Are sporting and musical events only meant to be for the very wealthy?

2) It is the same thing - that's shit behaviour too.

Then everyone's beef should be with eBay itself. Unless you don't have a problem as long as the stuff being sold is of no interest to yourself rolleyes.gif

If eBay didn't think it was illegal then they wouldn't have removed them. Anyway, on the back of Scotland tickets it clearly states that the tickets cannot be re-sold for more than face value. So it is illegal. The reason football tickets are so "sacred" is because football games are one offs. If you don't get a ticket you will never be able to go to that game. But there are thousands of X-Box's made every day so you will get one sooner or later.
Anyway, if you went to all Falkirk's Scottish Cup games in a season, then lost out on a ticket to the final because some ticket tout got in first and put it on eBay, would you not be moaning to ?

Wait til just before their auction is about to end then bid a silly amount - more fun that way. biggrin.gif

Already made a daft bid on one and will be again. Followed by a report to fleabay.

Btw, had my ticket for ages.

Any fans that dont have tickets and think they've no chance of getting one - get up to the game early and go to one of the pubs the Tartan Army drink in. I know of a few guys that have went up and got tickets off real fans at face value, even when the games have been sold out.

I'd buy that ticket knowing full well that someone was making money out of me. Are you saying to me that if Airdrie made it to Hampden and you missed out on a ticket you would not purchase the eBay ticket going for £50/60?

If so, I don't believe you for a goddamn minute smile.gif

I would indeed buy it. But I would rather buy it for face value and that's why these ticket touts should be stopped.

No it wasn't. Read it again.

It prohibits, IN ADDITION to the sales of tickets for matches in England and Wales, the listing of a ticket for any match in any competition for which any English or Welsh team is eligible or has competed in. Ergo, a ticket for a European Championship game may not be listed on E-Bay. rolleyes.gif

It would appear so, at least as far as E-Bay are concerned. However, as these tickets normally have as one of the conditions on the back that they may not be sold for profit or may not be resold, it would still be illegal to sell these, and I'm sure E-Bay would remove the listing if it was pointed out to them.

Doesn't really bother me if people want to go to home games join the SSC instead of just turning up for the big games like France and Italy.
