On the other hand, if you want to see a stale game of football for £21, go and watch the Pars game at East End Park tomorrow! ( no offence meant to the Killie fans )

Interesting to note that Mossmorran is a couple of miles outside Cowdenbeath slightly west towards Kirkcaldy. The prevailing wind in Fife is from the West, which means that any thing that comes out of the place ends up in Kirkcaldy and then on to Methil. No dought some numpty from either place will come and dispute the fact but you only have to look at the flare stack to see which way the wind blows. I leave it up to every one outside Kirkcaldy and Methil to make their own judgements but it sure does explain a lot what goes on in thr two places. I think it is called, Cowdenbeath shite on Kirkcaldy and Methil big style.
Just thought I would copy this from the post about DL leaving. Any comments.

First half Cowden were terrible and gave away two sloppy goals. Second half I felt Cowden were slightly better but couldnt find the equaliser.
Again we were missing key players - Morgaro Gomis, Gary Smith, Laurie Ellis and Scott Dalziel. But Morton deserved to win today.
Poor performance today from Cowden but could not fault effort. Midfield lacke composure and resorted to longer ball too often (ball spent too much time in the air from both sides). Really missed Smith, Ellis and Gomis.
At least proved we can compete with any team in the league and on another day could have got a result.
Well done Morton.

Went to todays' game as a neutral. Was surprised at how good a game it was. Thought Morton deserved to win over the 90 mins.
Interesting to see Cowden go with 3 in the middle of the park against Mortons' 4. For me it was that decision which cost them a point.

But that's what we play - an attacking 4-3-3 system. It's not naivety, it has paid dividends - see where Cowden are as compared to 2 years ago - see the crowds at Central Park compared to then. Morton were deservedly ahead at half time - though Cowden just shaded the second half. Morton are a good team but of course they should be given the cash/comparative resources they have as compared to Cowden. That said Cowden are a fine team as well. Again we had 5 first choices out (but good to see Hill and Hay back in the bench). With Gomis, Smith, Hay and Ellis and Dalziel (who I believe isn't a 100% fit either) back in and Marcus Paatelainen dropping back into his normal midfield role I think Cowden are a strong outfit who would run Morton close - we don't though have the depth of resources they have with £80k signings coming on from the bench.
Morton started at great pace and with so many changes in the team we didn't really play the passing game we can. I think Stevenson of Morton is a class act but wasn't so impressed with the dubious tactics adopted to clatter Pat Clarke 3 times in the first half. It was interesting to see too as the game wore on the full time team ended up time wasting and Cowden looked the fitter side as the game came to its conclusion. Paatelainen up front worked hard but we missed his midfield magic - that run by him at the end up the right was typical of his normal game but he has few opportunities to do that when playing as stand in centre.
Anyway entertaining game- I'm pleased and proud to support a team that goes out to try and win games and entertain fans - its not SPL 2 we need its more football like Cowden (and Morton) serve up.
morton dominated the first half, 2nd half was pretty even, 2-1 probably accurately reflects the game as a whole, in my opinion.
we did look a bit shaky towards the end but we ran the clock down fairly comfortably to take all 3 points - a good win.

1st half was great - all us. Greacen did very well to direct the header and Jimbo snapped the 2nd after McGowan had fluffed a shot (maybe it was a dummy?).
2nd half we conceded and the game seemd to die there. Gonet seemed to make a great double save, but MP did what forwards should do and followed in.
Gonet did very well if he was injured, with a few good saves, but overall his defence gave him an easy time of it. Good stop in the final minute of injury time.
The team played well, but the standouts for me were Keenan, McLaughlin, Stevenson and Millar. Some guy behind me was determined to see McLaughlin subbed (and indeed, may still be sitting there waiting for it) - dunno why, thought Scott had a fine game.
Hard lines to the wee boy who tried to climb over the wall, only for the Steward to clock him.
I saw two girls and two boys climb over undetected

I also thought Keenan was good today although IMO he could have done more at the Cowden goal, he stood off quite a bit. But he made two amazing tackles in the first half.
Not the best 'Ton performance of the season so far, but a 2-1 away win at our nearest challengers will do me just fine

Morton are easily the best side we have played this season with a few class players for 2nd division level. In reality you should be in the 1st but for the play off last season (not really wanting to go over that again!!) and it shows.
We have came a long way over the last year and i'm not too dispondent about losing today. Morton had the 1st half and in the 2nd I thought that we could grab a point but it wasn't to be.
We won't be playing teams of Morton's qualilty ever week and hopefully we will bounce back from today's defeat.
Mixu will always play an attacking team it has been great to watch and in the last 12 months we have only lost 2 league games at Central Park. At least we have to consolation of doing something no one else in this league has done this season in the league -score against Morton

Morton were streets ahead of any other team Cowden have faced this season. The Ton deserved the three points but we did manage to give them a wee scare towards the end.
Good crowd and and everyone seemed well behaved. Although I did witness the sad sight of FIVE Morton fans trying to get in for nothing alongside a guy in a wheelchair. Football doesn't need leeches like that!

This probably sums up the flow of the game:
Cowden........................Morton
9 ..........Goal Attempts........ 14
3.......... On Target............... 5
6.......... Off Target............... 8
0........... Hit Woodwork......... 1
1........... Offsides................. 2
2........... Corners................ 11
15.......... Fouls..................... 4
Neither team particularly had their shooting boots on to day as both only got a relatively low percentage of shots on target. TBH I don't remember Morton hitting the woodwork although there were quite a few close things especially in the first half. I think the corner count tells a story.
Credit to Cowdenbeath for having a real go though. In the second half they seemed to work on cutting out Miller and Stevenson which stopped Morton dominating as they had in the first half. Also, thats two matches against them where we seem to have assumed the game was won at halftime, stood off and nearly paid the penalty. The match was also played in a good spirit with no bad fouls particularly.
I reckon that Cowdenbeath will make the play offs but I think they may have to rethink their style a bit come the winter and quagmire pitches, etc. I expect that they will have to compete more in midfield or pay a price.

Fair play to Morton. Unusual for both sets of fans to agree on the result.
Re: a change of style. That won't happen. Mixu played 4-3-3 all last season. Do not make the mistake of assuming that we will become lightweight during the dark winter months. Ask the Stenny and Berwick fans. The team has grown up playing this system and last year we kept doggedly putting together results when Stenny and Berwick were streets ahead, points-wise. We hung in there and finally Berwick and Stenny stared bottling it and a fabulous Cowden run the last couple of months earned us the championship. It is worth noting that I don't think we actually managed to beat Berwick, the Championship favourites, all season. I would not be too cross if the same thing happened this season !
Nevertheless the plaudits go to Morton today. I don't think the game neccessarily told us anything since we had 5 important palyers missing unless others beg to differ. Onwards and upwards chaps.
