I've had many succesful games in the older versions, probably the most succesful is my Rangers team in CM01/02 (the best edition), which was as follows:

Memory's a bit sketchy so this is a collection of the players I had, I can't quite remember exactly which team I played to win the Champions League (this took me 6 season to do by the way ) but the team was dynamite!

The formation did consist of only 2 centre-halfs but it was very effective. The wing backs push right up and provide the service, and the attacking mids play the through passes and also score hunders of goals.

And then there's the legend that is To Madeira. The best player in the history of Champ, and not even real! A form of cheating but hey, I was young.

Taribo West deserves a metion as the best value for a player ever. Free transfer which turns out to be the best defender in the game.

Yeah, signed him basically every game. Only performed well with the smaller clubs I went though.

He did brilliant for me no matter who I went. Shane Tolley and Bruno (Gremio) were also class in my games.

Signed Shane Tolley for Queens Park once when I led them to the 1st Division before hitting "the wall" and flailing in mid-table. That side included the once Blackburn bench-warmer Corrado Grabbi.

Another good free guy was Butra. Dunno if you or anyone has signed him, but he scored a goal a game for me with QP.

Unsure but mines is that man To Madeira with 86 (I think).

I am tempted to re-install the game just to get a screenshot to prove this if anyone doesn't believe me.

That's some team there. I would suggest you sign Joe Lewis as back-up to Craig Gordon and depending on what year you are in you might get Lewis and also Quavas Kirk on the cheap.

Not currently playing Champ or FM so i'll go for my best team (that I can remember) - Leeds United in CM 01/02, this was a game in which I won 6 leagues in 8 years and the FA Cup 4 times in that spell, in my third season I had my best team, where I won the League, The FA Cup and my only Champions League and got beat in the FIFA World Club Cup final by Boca Juniors 5-3.

Went through various line ups but that was the best one, always loved going Leeds because you started with a whopping 42M, even more when you manage to get rid of Harry Kewell for 29M, Michael Dubbery for 9M and Lee Bowyer for 20M!!! Big success story was Singh, started as a youth player and loaned him to Barnsley, he ended up scoring the winning goal for England in Euro 2008 against Holland in the final

As for most goals in a season for a player, it was in that treble season with Leeds, Robbie Keane struck 52 goals in 58 games and was voted World Footballer Of The Year! Got all the way to the end of 2007/08 in that game, where I got sacked for finishing trophyless and third in the league!

Aghahowa was amazing a couple of versions ago.

There was a boy I used to always sign for County by the name of Michael Twiss, a youth player from Man Utd. 50 goals a season striker.

I never play it now, which is a shame. I'll start when my exams are over.
