Did anyone go to the Warriors game today? Sounds like the young team blew it in the last 10 mins, but played pretty well all in. Not sure how strong the Northampton team were.

Wee lad went n i saw 5 min highlights on youtube. Horne n Hastings looked utterly slick n robbie nairn did a fine Hoyland impersonation so v decent. Ashe was a big presence too. Nowhere near Northampton top side (as was Glasgow) but hartley featured n wasn't red carded so great success for him. Glasgow back line looked really tidy. Horne Hastings could be Scotland half backs for rwc 2023.

According to a number of media outlets the Pro 14 final will be played at the Aviva Stadium beating the Principality Stadium to the final. Also the new head of referees has made this statement "Appointments will always be merit-based and neutral, wherever possible, to ensure the best fit for each Championship fixture."

Ryan Wilson named the new captain for Glasgow.

Certainly a bold choice. There’s no doubting his passion and aggression, he’s got loads of experience and he does actually speak very well but his discipline is horrendous. The added responsibility may make him think before acting more often, but given how easily he can be provoked by the opposition and some of the penalties he gives away, I can’t really see it. I don’t doubt that he’s a leader but he gets on the wrong side of the referee far too often and when the ref gets annoyed by your captain that’s not going to help the rest of the team.

The Dylan Hartley theory.

Definitely going to try and cheap shot the ref at some point...

Just noticed while checking out the European fixtures that the draw for the draw for the Continental Shield has been made also. This gives 2 clubs from Europe the chance to gain entry to the Challenge Cup, Four representatives from the Italian Eccellenza - Pataro Rugby Calvisano, Femi-CZ Rugby Rovigo, Rugby Petrarca and Rugby Viadana - will be joined by Romania's Timisoara Saracens, RC Batumi from Georgia, Heidelberger RK of Germany and Portugal's Centro Desportivo Universitario de Lisboa (CDUL Rugby) competing in two pools of four. The Spanish champions declined the invite due to costs and it disrupting their domestic challenge

As you will remember from last year Einesi and Krasny Yar the 2 clubs from Krasnoyarsk in Siberia competed in the final last season on the back pitch at Murrayfield (yes after the 2 teams travelled 3000 odd miles they put the final on the back pitch at Murrayfield on the morning before the Champions Cup final - hopefully Bilboa treat the final better) and are taking part in the Challenge Cup this year. (2 finalist have already qualified, trophy is just an added bonus) Probably the furthest away from home any derby game has probably been played.  No matter how well they do this year in the Challenge cup, one of them misses out next year, as the rules have been changed. Last year the 2 Challenge Cup teams played the 2 pool winners of the shield for qualification to the Challenge Cup. This year it has changed, so the 2 challenge cup teams play each other for 1 spot and the pool winners for the other. On the one hand you can see that you dont want the same clubs each year, but surely you want the best teams to qualify?
