Our home game to Connacht on Fri night has an all-Irish set of officials...

With the referee having played over 100 times for Connacht.

I actually think, from the little I’ve seen of him, Frank Murphy has the makings of a decent referee on the whole. And if you’re going to let (or encourage even) former players to become referees you have to assume a lack of bias. Doesn't stop it looking dodgy though.

Is that the same Matt Fagerson that has been pulled out of the 7's team for the Commonwealth games this weekend due to a hamstring injury? ;)

There will be a few questions asked about that but I'd rather have him in the Glasgow team personally.

Good to see that Rennie isn't afraid to wield the axe regardless of reputation. The way Price and Finn have played recently a spell on the bench will do no harm.

A win bags us a home s/f so it's a massive game tbh...

I'd agree Matt Fagerson is more important for Glasgow this weekend than for the 7s. It could be because it's for the Commonwealth games, not just the world series, if they want to be able to make a late change in the squad they have to declare it as an injury.

Mon the Glasgow! Watching on TG4 Ireland. So not must different that Alba. Loads of "agas" and too many "pennis" for my liking!

Are you unable to watch ALBA?

An Irish ref.... I'm saying nothing.

He played over 100 games for Connacht too. I remember that we had a similar situation against one of the SA teams a few months back when Adamson reffed our game. I'm not saying that he'll be biased but, as with Adamson, it's utterly ridiculous that a referee is put in that situation knowing that accusations will inevitably be flung about.

Nah, I'm not in the UK and can't get any ALBA links to work even with a proxy. But found TG4 quite easily.

Exactly my point. There are more than enough officials now to avoid nationality clashes. I don't think they'll be biased, but it leaves the door open for unneeded speculation.
