Just had a quick glance on my phone so might have got this wrong, but it looks like Australia have only lost 3 test matches in Australia since England won the Ashes down there in 2010/11. All three against South Africa across 2 series.

Edit: 4. They lost to New Zealand in Hobart, which means two of those losses have been in Hobart.

So far This century it’s only South Africa that have been competitive when touring Australia

(W5,D3,L7)

Australia have won more test matches in SA than any other destination (W10,D0,L4)

England should try employing a few South African players, oh hang on

I know the one day and T20 matches are on BT but does anyone know if the New Zealand tests are being shown live at all? Couldn't see anything on the BT site and their deal is with Cricket Australia.

I was wondering that the other day, couldn't find anything on the Sky or BT websites.

England stagger over the line at the end but that was magnificent stuff from Roy and Root to put them in a winning position. Biggest ever ODI run chase in Australia.

Highest at the MCG, but not in Australia. From what I can see that is 334, which Australia chased down v England in Sydney in 2011.

Does add weight to the red ball/white ball separate coaching staff argument when you watch the completely different mindsets in play. Bayliss and Farbrace are clearly different animals in limited overs cricket and due to the change in personnel it would not be too disruptive to have a coach specialising in tests only.

Definitely. Despite Roy banging 180, there won't be a clamour for him to be in the Test team anytime soon. So if players are going to specialise in one format then it makes sense that coaches probably should too.

That's what affray is, right?  A somewhat twee charge akin to pissing in the street.

I think it can be (according to google), depending on whether the offence is deemed serious enough to to to crown court or stay in magistrates, I'm not sure what the Scottish equivalent is.

As far as I can see it’s basically “fighting in public” a combination of assault and breach of the peace

I think a 5 test suspension, backdated to the start of the Ashes, seems reasonable to me.

Fair enough

It's for the courts to mete out any appropriate punishment for any crime that was commited

It's for the ECB to take action on the aspects that are specific to him being a cricketer: The unprofessionalism of being out getting pissed in Bristol in the early hours of the morning, bringing the team into disrepute

And missing an Ashes series would surely be about the right amount of time on the naughty step.
