peasy23
Still surprised England didn't take vice captaincy away as a punishment n let him play. Think the problem is that they don't want to be seen to have reached their own conclusion before the police investigation is complete. As Glenn McGrath said on radio the other night, when the news first broke most people thought nothing of it, but once the video came out it looked awful. Whatever the provocation, Stokes goes way beyond self defence. I would hope Stokes's lawyer is pressuring the police and CPS to get the finger out though.

Eednud
In the women’s Ashes Test Elysse Perry scored her first Test Match century and has finished on 213 n.o. as Australia declare at 9/448.

Jmothecat2
Any chance of rain in Sydney? Appears to be England's only chance in the Women's Ashes. Pretty miserable looking really. Do the short form games count towards the ashes for the women's series?
Bully Wee Villa
Yes. Two points for winning an ODI or a T20, four points for winning a test.England lost the ODI series 2-1 so are 4-2 down. If Australia win the test they are guaranteed to retain the Ashes. If England can salvage a draw in the test they can still win the Ashes if they win the T20s 3-0.

Jmothecat2
Looking like it's going to be a draw. Not been following this closely but I went to check the score, and they are on 'dinner'. Is that the women's cricket equivalent of tea?

Jmothecat2
Day/Night Test equivalent Ah right, didn't realise it was a day/night test. Can't say I'm overly fond of the idea personally, but at least the one for the men's ashes will make it slightly easier to watch.

jaggyness
Anyone else think this series could be an absolute classic? All the media here and down under seem to be doing their utmost to highlight where each teams deficiencies are. Starc is bang in form and England may have finally found someone who comes close to what Bell did and possibly solved the problem of who partners Cook. There are definite issues, stokes and wood for England are big losses and Australia's wk mean there is definitely uncertainty but it could make for a really close series

Australia and England both have problems with their batting line ups and if 1 or 2 players can step up (e.g. Stoneman and Vince for England) then that could be the difference. Jim Maxwell has been excellent on 5 live this week and he thinks Australia could be looking at their bowlers to keep them in/win them games as he has major concerns over their batting.
peasy23
Just on 5 live, there was a couple of excellent programmes the other night. Firstly they had the results of the online poll for the all time Ashes 11, and that was followed by a programme with Stuart Broad reliving the 2015 Trent Bridge test when he took 8-15. Both are available on the iPlayer radio app or the website.
Salvo Montalbano
Australia to win at the Gabba, England to win the day/night test in Adelaide. The other three? Who knows. Should be a good series. I assume BT are doing nightly highlights at a decent time so I'll try and avoid here in the mornings and catch up at night.
Joey Jo Jo Junior Shabadoo
I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if all goes down to the first hour of the first morning of the first Test. If whoever bats gets skittled then it's curtains for them but if the bowling is a bit pish and there's a hundred or so on the board for f**k all then whoever bats has it in the bag. Obviously it will be 80-2 at lunch and we'll have the tightest series imaginable. Hopefully.

Going by previous day/night games then Adelaide is where Anderson in particular might run amok. Think there is a lot more pressure on Australia with them being the home side, they'll be expected to win at the Gabba and if they don't the Aussie press will be up in arms, especially given how weak they think this England squad are.
