Do you like the English?

Recommended Posts

English seem fine and dandy as long as they're working class types like myself.

Where i start to find fault is the snobby English Tory voting c***s.

How any human finds it acceptable to treat poor people the way the Tory party do is inhumane to me yet these wankers encourage it.

Oh and they can pretend all they like most of the country isn't racist but we all know they are.

I've lived here, on and off, for almost 40 years and haven;t a bad word to say about the place or the people.  Not a fan of White Van Man politics nor of those who support Brexit but yer average Englishman is absolutely sound.

By whom? Would you state the same opinion about, say Syrians or Mexicans for instance. We are beginning to look like a nation of ar*eholes judging by the puerile antics of the elected SNP MPs thinking they speak for the whole of Scotland.

As Scotlands democratically elected government, they do speak for Scotland m8. If you hate democracy though, I know a perfect place for you south of the border.

Good point

Can't say I've ever had a problem.

The only people down here I don't like are the ones that have that really awful, grating Essex accent that makes them sound like they were born in a sewer. Not only is the accent annoying, but it seems to go hand in hand with the person being a complete roaster.

Actually I have no issues with anyone English.
However I do not like the little englanders that call us “sweaty socks” and make similar racialist slurs to anyone that doesn’t fit their image of someone who can live int their “green and pleasant land”
In my experience these are a minority, so, yes, in the main, I like them

Like most rational people, I tend to like or dislike people on an individual basis based upon whether I find them to be c***s or not.

I agree with this sentiment 100%. With a small exemption for the aforementioned Morris Dancers who always make me wish I owned a flame thrower.

Good post. About the standard of argument we get from the #SNPbad brigade.

Without wanting to get into the Political Party specifics of this argument, do people still blindly vote for a particular Party as opposed to weighing up which policies affect you the most and are most important to you then voting for whichever Party accordingly?

I don't see Political disagreement (even within the members of a Party) as a bad thing. It's democracy in action. Having an all too powerful Government that force though unpopular policies using the Party Whip is far more damaging imo.

Don't like the English media, don't like the scouse accent even though i have been to Liverpool and the folk are sound. Most English people I have met are sound.

I have an Aunt from Huddersfield and my Mother in law is Cornish and they are both nice.

I would however never support them at any sport and love to see them getting gubbed but that's probably down to the media.

I would probably say I hate Tory voting, royalist loving, No voting Scots more than I hate the English.

Worse than that, there are thousands of people in Scotland who vote a certain way depending on which football team they support. Genuinely.

Tragic! Nothing to do with us nowadays anyway, mate. We voted with our feet.

I always liked B-Real from Cypress Hill's quote in an interview: "I don't vote because I don't care and I don't plan to vote because I don't plan to care". Until I actually thought about it one day and realised it was a fucking stupid thing to say.

Agree with all that but would add that snobby Scottish Tory voting c***s are even more obnoxious than their English counterparts.

North of Sheffield: Usually sound.
South of Sheffield: Usually not so sound.

What about Sheffield itself? I go there a few times a year and the people there are brand new, far more friendly than the folk of Edinburgh (which isn’t hard).

Lots of good folk in England obviously but if we are to generalise I would rank them as the least likeable of nations based on people I have met on my travels. A lot of sneering obnoxious and ignorant attitudes towards other nationalities. Scandinavians, Dutch and Germans are the most likeable and most respectable of nations from the people I have met.

I'm happy to count them amongst the former.

I know it's an old cliche that the northerners are warmer and more likeable than the southerners, but I have generally found it to have some substance.
