I'm confused by our fixtures - we go to Ibrox twice pre-split, but we did so last season as well.

Isn't the case that fixtures are meant to "swap" each season, with promoted sides taking on the role of the side they just replaced? So if you're at home to someone twice pre-split one season, you're away to them twice pre-split the following season and so on.

From inception, the SPL (as-was) designed the fixtures so that if you had Celtic twice, you got Rangers once and vice versa. When the new team that plays at Ibrox found its way to the top league, they happened to be "in sync" with Celtic - meaning teams got both twice at home or twice away. Partick Thistle complained quite strongly about this IIRC.

Surely they haven't manipulated the fixtures to put Celtic and Sevco "back" out of sync?

I think we've got Rangers at home twice pre-split. I think we were due them twice at Ibrox based on the last couple of seasons and we're at Celtic Park twice, so I think something has been tweaked...

Both started the same thread at the same time, I'll close mine and add the comment into here...

First game for everyone:

4th August 2018 (all 15:00 kickoff)

Celtic .. v ..  Livingston

Hamilton Accies .. v .. Hearts

Hibernian .. v .. Motherwell

Kilmarnock .. v .. St. Johnstone

St. Mirren .. v .. Dundee

5th August 2018 (13:00 kickoff)

Aberdeen .. v .. Rangers

And of course, to accommodate the "Sevco adjustment", it's had knock-on effects for other teams - Hibs, for instance, are at Dens twice pre-split as they were last season.

The SPFL have outdone themselves this time.

That's right. As you say,  they've had a problem ever since Rangers got promoted because they took over Dundee United's fixtures, and Dundee United happened to have pretty much the same set of fixtures as Celtic. This meant that more than one team had to play both of the OF twice at home, or twice away, before the split.

This also had a knock-on effect in terms of the likelihood of post-split imbalances. They ended up in the situation last season where they were almost guaranteed to have an imbalance, as Rangers had played all four of the other "big five" clubs at home twice. With all of those teams and Killie (who Rangers had also played at home twice) getting into the top six, two of the teams (Killie and Hearts) had to visit Ibrox for a third time.

Basically they've decided this year to bite the bullet and reset the fixture list.

I'm watching Sky Sports' coverage of the fixtures; they've mentioned Celtic, Rangers, the Premier League, Steven Gerrard, Boreham Wood, Sutton United and a patronising explanation of the split.

I don't think it has ever been as simple as that.  The fixtures also have to be adjusted to account for the different finishing positions of each team in the previous season, so that three teams from the previous year's top 6 have 17H 16A and three have 16H 17A, with the same being true for the bottom 6.

EDIT: As far as I can remember, everyone played exactly 3 Old Firm home fixtures before the split last season, so it's not true that any sort of adjustment like that has been made this year.

Hearts and Hibs both went to Ibrox and Celtic Park four times before the split last season (2H 4A).

Hearts ended up with 3H 5A versus the OF last year because they went to Ibrox a third time after the split.

Killie had 3H and 5A against them too.

Only difference is we played them both away post split.

Great first fixture. Absolutely delighted

We're really blessed that we have the first opportunity to watch in awe at the Gerrard revolution.

Sure thing....NOT, lets do these fuckers good and proper.

3-0 Aberdeen (Miller hat trick)
