Scottish Junior Cup

With it looking increasingly likely most if not all of the East junior prem teams jumping ship with many more considering it,  is this the final year of it actual being a credible cup comp. Personally think the time has come for a nationwide non league scottish cup.

Glad we got to win it when the juniors were all here but for me this season will be the end of a great competition having any real credibility.

There will be folk that find it hard to admit, but the bigger East sides not being in it will definitely erode the prestige of the Scottish. Ironically enough that will be the closest most of them have came to causing concern to West sides in the Scottish.

Not having the Junior Scottish cup  will be by far the biggest shame about the Juniors aligning with the Pyramid however a National non-league trophy sounds like a cracking prospect.

I would love to see the senior non-league sides involved. If they are invited, it will make the competition brilliant. LL, HL, EOS, SOS & NCL clubs would be good addition. Even if LL/HL wouldn't join, the other leagues would still add value.

Call it what you want as long it's that big braw Bastert of a cup.

I do think allowing N.C.L. (Newcastle) clubs into it is pushing the lowland league a bit far.   Lol         :)

Just in case anybody doesn't know NCL = North Caledonian League which is the North of Scotland FA league where the senior grade's Scottish Cup entrant Golspie Sutherland play their games. Think they played Girvan a few seasons back. The NCL used to be mainly a reserve league for the Highland League teams from in and around Inverness with a few extras thrown in. Nowadays the few extras are still there but there are usually no reserve teams now that Inverness Thistle and Caley have merged and joined the mainstream national divisions along with Ross County and the Highland League is a pale shadow of what it used to be.

It was a missed opportunity on the part of the SJFA not to invite the non-league seniors into the Junior Cup. Even just mirroring a version of qualification that the SJFA got for entering their clubs into the Scottish Cup (EoS, SoS, HL & NCL champions) if you didn't want to add everyone.
