Shannon Posted May 18, 2018 Share Posted May 18, 2018 The prices only went up from £5 to £6 very recently for top two leagues and I heard quite a lot of moans at the gate, still do and probably a few stopped going when introduced this slight increase so £8 / £4 would be way too much in my opinion. Totally fine for big cup games / local cup finals etc but when got 3 league games a week £24 a week to get in to watch your local Junior team is asking a bit much from supporters before they even buy anything else. As it's a cheap price a lot of loyal supporters who perhaps want to help their club buy raffles, hidden teams, programme's, food / drink etc that makes up to way more than £8 / £10 per person anyway. £6 and £3 is right price I think at the moment for top league especially now with lowland league to compare and they are all mostly the same too. griffiti on the wall Posted May 18, 2018 Share Posted May 18, 2018 I agree with clubs setting there own prices with a certain range say between £6 -£10 For me for clubs to survive they have to become really community based as we say" in the community for the community ".Nobody should know there community better than the club so they can speak with there fans and see what kind of pricing would be affordable within a said community . You want people going because they want to, not because they're effectively being bribed to do so. I suppose the question would be - they're interested enough in football, what's the minimum they would pay to get in (or how much would parents give them to get them out the house)? How many adults only go because they got free admission as kids? At Pollok, the concessions gate is usually about a 1/3 of the gate, some OAPs but also some kids. Say 50% of that was kids, maybe 100 at the game u16? £300 a match, 15 home league games next season... £4500 will go a long way towards paying for a key player. It's too cut throat to shut off reasonable revenue. I paid £12 not long ago to take my 4 yr old around some fish tanks in an aquarium - I wouldn't begrudge paying 1/4 of that when she's old enough to be charged for. griffiti on the wall Posted May 18, 2018 Share Posted May 18, 2018 I run a supporters bus m8 and if I was to charge kids then gate money that's a tenner without food or a sweetie and say you get 2 games a week that's £20 and I know that then it's pricing kids out and they just stop going .I love nothing more than seeing all the kids on the pitch at half time having a kick about as you know they love that they are getting to play on a real pitch where there hero's play and for some it's the only football match they ever get to .I know junior football is not responsible for the social ills in some of our communities but if we can do our bit then we will be a better club and grade for it Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I'd imagine that there would be no complaints if you charged less, after all, it's your gate revenue. If you were to charge over the set limit, I think you'd soon be flooded by complaints. griffiti on the wall Posted May 18, 2018 Share Posted May 18, 2018 I think that once we start going down the road of hiking prices up to 11-12 quid as quoted then we are simply pricing folk out of an already in most cases small fan bases .I think we need to be radical in our pricing ,the way we promote our game ( non league day is non existent as one example ) and how we market our game ( very little sponsors social media poor and virtually no exposurer in the mainstream media .I know this is more than just the original question but it just got me thinking out loud Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

The pricing structure in the SPFL isn't as rigid as you may think. Even within divisions prices vary, as do the categories. As well as adult and concessions prices, some charge u12s and students less. We don't charge extra for sitting in the stand, which I know some junior clubs do.
