sweep
This has got to be decided by the member clubs at an AGM .This cannot be decided by the management committee it goes against the constitution of the association.

They are opening the position and duty to for someone else. Which is pretty much what most are asking for. Not a circus. The management committee have finally grasped the seriousness of the situation and done something about it. Yes it will have to go to a vote but there is finally some movement. The Ilford Drummer
Great move. Acknowkedges the task involved and creates a bit of succession planning as well. Well done

This is down to the failure of the general secretary, simply passing the buck to save his own position and to keep one of their mates in a job. sweep
As per the constitution. All proposals for change should be forwarded to the regional secretary before the last day in April

ADLNeutral
They make the rules up as they go along. Total farce as usual....
glensmad
As we have seen this season with the fixtures fiasco, the constitution isn't worth anything.
archieb
3 minutes ago, sweep said: As per the constitution. All proposals for change should be forwarded to the regional secretary before the last day in April True but see below. 2 minutes ago, sweep said: It goes against the constitution I don't believe that it does. Page 6 Rule 6 (Management Committee) reads: "6. The Management Committee of the Region will have the powers to add to the Rules as they from time to time may deem expedient, provided they do not annul or conflict with any Rule adopted or defeated proposal at the Annual General Meeting. In the event of an alteration to the Constitution and Rules of the Region notice of the proposed alterations must be sent in writing to the Secretary of the Region on or before 30th April. Alterations require a majority of those present and eligible to vote at such meetings." So the MC has powers to add to the rules (e.g. to create a new neutral Office Bearer position) as long as that does not conflict with an AGM resolution. It is unclear whether such a change needs to be rubber-stamped at the NEXT AGM but that would seem to be a logical consequence. In any case this will have been discussed and, presumably, minuted by the MC well in advance of the date of today's announcement and so this will no doubt constitute the requirement to notify the General Secretary.
