Bully Wee Villa
Expand to 64. 32 Scottish clubs (including one Lowland and one Highland). Two each from England, Rangersey Ireland, Celticy Ireland, Wales, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Greece, Turkey, Austria, Poland and Germany. Every Scottish team gets to play a foreign team. Lots of fun trips for everyone.
RedLichtie86
Said it before. But if they want a multi nation cup competition, go ahead. But the SCOTTISH CHALLENGE CUP should only be for teams that play in the Scottish league systems. If they made it for L1, L2, HL, LL that would be great. Hell even add teams below that.
Bully Wee Villa
If you are so worried about semantics, should Arbroath be kicked out of the Scottish "Professional" Football League?

By that logic, at least 20 other clubs would follow suit.

It's not called the "Scottish Challenge Cup" though. It's called the "Scottish Professional Football League Challenge Cup" (previously Scottish Football League Challenge Cup). Under your strict rules of taking the name literally, that would mean that no Highland League or Lowland League clubs could enter either, since they are not part of the SPFL. However, what the name actually means is that it is a "Challenge Cup" organised by the Scottish Professional Football League. They can invite whichever clubs they feel like into the tournament subject to obtaining permission from the SFA plus whichever leagues/FAs the invited clubs play under. At first, these invitations were extended to Highland League clubs, then to Lowland League clubs, then to clubs from Wales and Northern Ireland, then to clubs from the Republic of Ireland, and now to clubs from England.
haufdaft
I would imagine that the demand from English non league fans to see Hamilton Accies colts in action will be huge.

If you're happy to play in an inaccurately-named league, why does playing in an inaccurately-named diddy cup present an issue? Not gonna lie but Hamilton Academical U20s or Hamilton Academical Reserves would both beat Clyde.

microdave
I'd be up for French teams too. I want to travel to a Dumbarton game on a plane. I've already mentioned it earlier in this thread but the away day to Oswestry for the game against TNS was the best I've had. Doonhamer doon south
For me happy with english team inclusion. Reduces my travel time if Queens draw welsh or english teams away. Love this competition but gtf colts.
TheScarf
Good news IMO. The more jobber teams for ICT to swat aside, the better.

Really hoping for some faux-hooliganism between complete rockets when a Scottish team plays one of the English lot. Hilarity all round.

EdinburghBlue
Adding in 2 teams from the Congo for next season... When will this be confirmed?

Lichtie78
tbh I’m a fan of having the other British teams, but all HL and LL teams should’ve been added before them.
7-2
Don't care how it's dressed up but English non-league teams is a step too far.

We've got some Bad Bois now, they threw a yellow smoke bomb onto McDiarmid Park & lobbed a drumstick at an Alloa player during the Play-Off Final Tadgers

A step too far was a long, long time ago with this competition. The biggest farce is inviting Sutton and Boreham Wood because they finished higher in the league. It's an utter farce of a competition, just invite anyone you want!
