I was up late most nights watching athletics, but, thanks to the appalling coverage by the bbc was forced to watch the women’s pairs match involving Scotland. The two ladies representing us were, shall we say, not going to be in the gymnastics team for Birmingham 2022. The commentators were waxing lyrical about the need for medals to ensure the flow of government cash to bowls. Then came the comedy gold. “The money will go towards athlete support such as fitness coaches and exercise facilities.” Aye and a huge amount of hydration of the type supplied in most boolin’ clubs.
