Well, in my opinion Ayr 2000 wasn’t as good as Dens Park 1977 when a rampant Fergie’s Furies pumped Dundee 4-zip to win the league. My opinion matters not a jot... they’re all brilliant. houston_bud Posted April 5, 2018 Share Posted April 5, 2018 The 99/00 season was ridiculous as it was a pretty tight run affair, we had also been tipped as 2nd favourites for relegation before the season started and had been down in the second tier for a almost a decade. This season has been exceptional - better than 99/00 in many ways - but the elation of scoring a late winner to ensure promotion will be hard to top. Question for Brechin fans: Where's good to get a bite to eat in the town before the game? We're planning on driving up, leaving quite early so we can get parked easily, get some lunch and a lager. Can't beat an away day curry & lager imo, hence The Swan (open 12-2 in afternoons, see if you can reserve a table). I certainly had a really good feed in there before a game last month. We didn’t actually win the league at Ayr in 2000, we guaranteed promotion ( it was 2 up that year). It was the following game against Raith Rovers that we clinched the league and opened the new stand. Followed by a 5 nil drubbing up in Inverness.
