craigkillie
Genuinely laughing out loud at the idea that a player is going to be sucked into gambling because the league he plays in is sponsored by a bookie.

I don't know about now but that was certainly the case in the past. Played with two Scotland schoolboys and know another, all three were just bigger than the other guys their age. Two never played professional football at all and one did fairly mediocre. At the trials I got as far as Tayside, two guys were taken out of our team and told they didn't need to go through the rest of the process they were going straight to largs. Both just big and strong. One mediocre career other bang average. But at 15/16 they just brushed the other kids aside.

I'm glad Marlboro and the like have stopped sponsoring the F1, think how many drivers lives that's saved.

An excerpt from Aitchison's biography, 16 years from now: "...the net bulged, the fans roared: my first ever goal for Celtic! Then I turned round and saw the hoarding. Confused, I turned away and blew snotters into my shirt - only to see the logo there too. My thoughts tumbled like an old pair of trainers in a washing machine. That night I raced from the stadium, torn between the twin temptresses of Ladbrokes and Bargain Booze. It was the day my career began... it was the beginning of the end. Chinatoon Bairn
Still recovering from witnessing several fannies flashing their torches during the 67th minute. As well as obviously the piss poor performance.
