So we're still waiting for our first league goal of 2018. Let's take a wee look at the stats behind that run:

  • 695 minutes of football have been played since Dumbarton's last league goal
  • That will have been 77 days ago by the time we play Brechin on Tuesday
  • 77 days is 21% of a year
  • 11 weeks
  • Over 110,000 minutes (and counting)
  • Only Cowdenbeath (13) have scored less goals in the SPFL this season
  • It's been 910 minutes since a player currently with the club last scored (Tom Walsh -vs- St Mirren on December 2nd)
  • Ally Roy's goal against Livingston was our only strike in our last 10 (TEN) league games
  • We haven't scored in 11/15 home games we've played so far this season
  • Our players who are currently fit have a total of 6 league goals between them all season (Froxy (3), Stewart (2), Wardrop (1))
  • Even when the opportunities present themselves things like this happen

So, the big question is, having seen the evidence of some criminal finishing, will Dumbarton ever score a Championship goal again?

What will happen first,  Dumbarton league goal or a Brechin win?

Tuesday evening. You'd have to fancy Brechin to at least get their first away point of the season.

Sounds like we've got a second bomb being passed around the league now. Would quite happily take both going off on Tuesday night.

*for avoidance of doubt, I refer to football related matters only where Dumbarton are the team to let us win and we let them score in return. Hedgecutter has never partaken in and shall always condemn abhorrent and cowardly acts of terrorism.

**except perhaps approve demolition of the new Marischal development in Aberdeen, on condition that nobody gets hurt / develops long lasting respiratory / mental health problems / severe financial difficulty on an individual level.

You'll score on Tuesday. Brechin are an abomination. Their players will probably be too busy taking selfies to warm up properly.

You ve hardly put us to the sword this year have you ? only team to really kick our arses have been Caley and they were relegated from Premier so that's no great surprise.

I think you have been doing well but the argument that it is acceptable that Caley thumped you is not really valid. They have been rotten the majority of the season and sit in 8th place (bottom of all the full time sides).

For what it's worth I reckon we will score a few in the next week and this thread will be even more pointless than it is now. Unless of course thats what S08 is hoping for... ;)

You are the worst team in the history of the second tier in Scotland.

Could be a monumental game for either club.

Best chance for Dumbarton to score for the first time since Methuselah was a boy, and for Brechin to get their first win of the season. Saying that, I wouldn't bet on either of those outcomes. More likely to be a case of two tricky defences holding out against two useless attacks and ending up with a no scoring draw as neither can find their way into the opposition 18 yard box
