The Binos v Peterhead

Recommended Posts

This Saturday providing the pitch is playable we entertain League Leaders Peterhead at Forthbank.

The question for most Binos fans is whether our good run of recently can continue and that we make it 6 wins in a row. Hopefully we can and this would give the team and the fans a major boost ahead of our hectic schedule 7 games in 22 days.

Team wise expect us to be along the usual lines with maybe Wullie Robertson coming back into contention after his spell out injured.

Prediction Binos 2 Peterhead 1

This is a massive game. We win this we go 7 points behind them with 2 games in hand. So, we really need to be keeping our good form up.

Mike Roncone is the referee though, so sadly can't see us winning.

Peterhead should be at full strength, minus the goal machine.

we played some half decent football against Clyde, so hopefully this will continue and see us back up the road with the points.

tough 3 weeks coming up for us with games against Stenny, Montrose, Annan and Clyde that will go a long way to where we will end up on the 28th April

Got excited at the prospect of no McAllister for you lot, then again remembered Roncone is refereeing this. Fully expect a Peterhead penalty.

But Rory is also our penalty taker. :(

Really looking forward to the game on Saturday, it’s actually a massive game for us and it’s a pity that Peterhead didn’t play more locally as it surely would of pulled in a decent crowd.

The bad weather has probably hit us at the wrong time, we seemed to really hit form in the game against Clyde but with the disruptions now, who knows how we are going to be against Peterhead.

Win the game and we are right back in it, c’mon!

Sunderland are away from home so you might pull a few more locals in

I reckon we'll still pull in a big crowd. Biggest game of the season so far. Bring it on.

Weather forecast good. Pitch immaculate (as always). Thunderbirds are go. If Bluetoon come hunting for 3 points, could be a cracker.  Stirling team management will have the players well versed re one game at a time, and for for that reason I don't expect Stirling squad to get carried away with recent success. Peterhead fans pay attention to Barr (8) in mid-field, his presence has contributed greatly to our turn of fortune.  He happily controls mid-field with the the odd pop at goal.  He's due a goal.

Think you're getting Barr and Jardine mixed up m8. Easy enough mistake though...

Oops, should have gone to Spec Savers. Those who know me say my life is one big mistake.

Frustrating afternoon for The Albion at Forthbank, no doubt about it.

With the way the conditions were, it was obvious from early on that small margins were going to make the difference, sadly for us the small margin came from an absolute wondergoal from Jamie Stevenson (a player I’d love to see at the club) and a total abject performance from Referee Mike Roncone.

We didn’t really do much wrong today, the conditions make it difficult, but every player did their best in them. Sadly for us, we’re a football team and we couldn’t really play much football and were limited to creating chances due to it.

That didn’t stop Darren Smith hitting the post with a freak cross come shot in the first half and he really should of scored in the second half, rattling the bar from about 3 yards, when it looked easier to score.

The story of the game though, was the totally inept performance of the Referee. Sure, he’s not the reason we lost the match (that was down to a superb strike)but he certainly didn’t help. One thing you know from a Jim McInally & Davie Nichols side is that they will be street wise and will use every trick in the book to disrupt play and create an advantage, sadly for the Binos, time after time after time Roncone bought it, to the extent where he started over ruling linemen and baffling the Albion bench and crowd.

The game is well and truly over when this happens, when you are not even getting the clearest of Free Kicks that the Linesman is flagging for, and Alan Smith, Willie Gibson and co are falling over without any contact then we really should just close the gates, pick the ball up and go home.

So the run is over, and a point would of been fair, but the bright side is that we are still comfortably in the Play Off spot and did well in conditions that simply didn’t suit our style of game.

Not much I can add to that other than to say that the Peterhead players seem to get a lot of injuries. I mean genuine injuries, not the time waisting sort.

Excellent 3 points for the Toon. With our top scorer missing and our second top scorer taken off injured it looked like a draw would be a good result. Jamie Stevenson's cracking goal settled the game and sets us up nicely for the next 2 difficult games against Stenny and Montrose.
