Surely to Christ it must have now dawned on both sets of Old Firm boneheids that the game is well and truly up.   On all available evidence Rangers has died as any sort of force in the mediocre arena of Scottish football, whilst the other mob are truly shooting fish in a barrel before being royally pumped each season in the slighly more testing environment of European competition.  It's all a bit like two weans wrestling in a remote corner of a school playground and only the hyperventilating circle of Scottish fitba media types is drawing any sort of minor attention to it; no-one outwith the slowly eroding band of p***ks who require religious bigotry and Irish history with their football is remotely interested.

You tell them.

No Surrender to spelling

Gregg fucking Wylde is the most spineless shitebag I have ever seen on a football park.

Him lamenting the performance of others is a joke in itself and along with shite spelling, demonstrates a quite profound lack of self-awareness.

Why can't Rangers fans and ex players realise that Celtic have far better players than they do?

Since Rangers got promoted and Celtic appointed Rodgers,  Celtic have scored what seems like about 50 goals against them.   That's not 'not playing for the Rangers shirt', that's getting regularly torched by a far better team.

It's maybe my favourite part of this entire Banter Years narrative that what most Rangers fans truly believe is that they just need somebody who 'gets' Rangers to come in and stop 10 in a row. They genuinely believe that Walter Smith, who was backed with eye-watering finances season after season and flopped as soon as he went to Everton, could actually come back and win the league with this side, who are only just keeping their heads above the water in second ahead of Aberdeen and Hibs.

Though liquidation and starting in the third division was absolutely disastrous for Rangers, they could've made the best out of a bad situation. They could've had a team of youngsters and prospects (with a spine of experienced pros) to march up the leagues and then mount a serious challenge to Celtic once they got to the top flight. Instead, they pissed away hundreds of thousands in wages over those first 4 years in the lower leagues on dross, and fragmented the support even further.

But the hype is wrong the other way too, some ex-players (who are treated as gurus for whatever reason) believe £20/30/40/50m is needed to overhaul Celtic again. If Rangers could actually spot a player and didn't keep awarding their biggest contracts to has beens like Barton, Senderos, Alves, Kranjčar etc., they could be in a much healthier position and probably (dare I say it) breathing down Celtic's necks. The Celtic side of this season are not unstoppable.

What this essentially boils down to is the fact that Rangers fans refuse to accept they were cheating in the EBT era, and that gave them the edge over Celtic and was why they had their dominance over Scottish football. Much the same as some demented Kickback users insisting that Hearts just need to have players who 'try harder' and 'get it' in derbies, they can't admit that they were spending ludicrous money they didn't have to maintain an advantage over Hibs for decades. If you spend more money, you will invariably win more derbies and more trophies. Rangers will never get back to that stage unless they are taken over by a billionaire (immoral but within the rules compared to EBTs).

Even Alex McLeish has admitted this. If they can come to terms with that, they might begin to work out how to solve this problem, and yet if they do come to terms with it, they'll have to admit their glory years were tainted. It's a fantastic Catch 22, and I am so pleased that it's one that they'll hopefully never escape from. Liquidation II, if it comes, will be a very, very sweet moment.

I'd say it was down to their delusions of grandeur.

When we overtake them in terms of title wins, it'll make for some hilarious viewing.

Murty's lineup today makes the obligatory "where's the passion for the jersey?!?!" posts even funnier. He's picked a midfield that some yer da in the Louden would've wanted to see because they're aw proper Rangers men who will get in there and win they battles.

I've said in some of our threads that I think there is something in the importance of having a few guys in derbies who will leave a boot/elbow in and generally treat it as a bit of a battle. Some of the cliches are true, at least at this level. That kind of thing can give you an advantage in these games but it doesn't make up for being absolutely shite at football.

Would Rangers have been better off with Pedro? One of his first actions was chucking Halliday because he’s gash and realising Miller was finished.

But he also signed jobbers like Cardoso and Dalcio, But Murty signed Martin [emoji848]

Great post, somewhere in Motherwell a lonely bus driver is howling at the moon wishing that Aberdeen would die so Davie Cooper could come back and put those deviants in their place.
