Well prince Phillip.  He was an 18 year old squaddie posted to Buckingham palace, the queen a 13 year old heir to the throne.  Today he'd be jailed.

Except he was at Naval College at Dartmouth when the Royal family visited and spent the war in the Navy.

So, not a "king" then.

And he was a cadet in the Navy not a squaddie.

He was asked to escort the King's* daughters on a tour of The Royal Naval College at Dartmouth, not "posted to Buckingham Palace".

Apart from that, you're spot on.

* = King George V1, our last King.

The book of Gomorrah is an absolute belter too.
Was also apparently some Scottish guy involved with them, but they had to remove the name for the UK edition because of libel laws.

There was a guy who did a runner to Aberdeen and had a couple of restaurants. He killed 40 people in Italy apparently and was extradited eventually. His restaurant won awards.

The police we’re looking for one of that mob once for a murder - probably late 80’s -  and we’re stopping folk at the tolls at the Forth Road Bridge. My dad had a black Alfa Romeo at the time and was chuffed to be pulled over and have the car searched in case he had a shooter stashed somewhere.

You know, I read a lot. Especially about history. I find that shit fascinating. Here's a fact, I don't know whether you know or not, Sicilians  were spawned by Africans.
Sicilians have black blood pumpin' through their hearts. If you don't believe me, you can look it up. Hundreds and hundreds of years ago, you see, the Moors conquered Sicily.
And the Moors are Africans.  So you see, way back then, Sicilians were like wops from Northern Italy. Ah, they all had blonde hair and blue eyes, but then the Moors moved in there, they changed the whole country. They did so much fucking with Sicilian women that they changed the whole bloodline forever. That's why blonde hair and blue eyes became black hair and dark skin. They're part eggplant.

Well played, very under rated but great film. This scene being the best in the film.

I recommend The Mafia at War by Tim Newark if you’re into the history of the Cosa Nostra .

i explains how Mussolini was on the point of eradicating the cosa nostra but they were protected to an extent by the American and British forces and allowed to flourish again

That's absolutely true, similar to heroin production in Afghanistan actually, completely resurrected by our presence after the authoritarian figure had nearly stamped it out.  John Dickie's book goes into that a bit.

My wife's family is from Calabria, I wake up next to a horses head next to me most mornings.

If she goes tunnelling escape routes in the middle of night it would get a bit annoying.
