Scottish football continues to find new and unusual ways of shooting itself in the foot.  You dont sack a CEO now in the current circumstances. Regan's time was up, but after the SFA recruited a new manager and resolved the Hampden question.

He won't be missed, it will take more than 1 guy to leave his post to change our cirsumstances. Regan represented the clubs, if he has just been expressing the SFA boards opinion on matters then we need a total revamp, which everyone has pretty much  been crying out for.

It's a shambles, we have a guy from the Ammies sitting on the board, I mean FFS.

Horrendous that he got away with that pish. As fans I think we all need to take a bit of responsibility for that

The fact that Caldwell cited his previous abject failure as a manager as being the sort of track record that made him an ideal candidate to be the manager of the Scottish national side that really had me stalled mid tofu burger.

Someone somewhere on the board is already thinking “It’s a long shot, but he just might be right”.

This is the perfect time.

If all those issues got settled then the next person could just blame Regan for it all going tits up.

Regan was long overdue his binning by around 6 years. The fact that his reign ends with no manager, no major sponsor and no resolution to the home ground sums up the shambles of his tenure. Pathetic ending to an ultimately abject 8 years.

While I am glad that Regan has gone, and he made numerous mistakes, there will be no fundamental difference no matter who is in the Chief Exec chair until the SFA is changed as an organisation. The SFA is a member organisation and the chief executive has very limited powers to implement change, without going through various subcommittees that are filled with club representatives. The structure needs to change to give the SFA some teeth and the ability to implement what's best for Scottish football without having to get approval of the clubs. There is an inherent conflict between what's best for the clubs and what is best for Scottish football.

Of course none of this will happen. Would personally like to see the head of the SFA having to be elected, the candidates would run on what they want to change and all season ticket holders in Scotland get a chance to vote for the best candidate. If they are crap, at least they would only have a 5 year term and would be responsible to the fans and not the blazers.

Concerned about the self interest of clubs, but wants each ST holder in Scotland given a vote?

Nothing could place the successful candidate more firmly in the pocket of the OF.
