South Fan
Well now that the first half of the season is behind us in the south and we're a few weeks into the second half who do we think will win the league? Has any of our choices changed? And who will be top 4 come the business end?

Bonnyton are they licensed, will they be licensed and able to play in the Lowland league playoff at the start of May? Possible if Cove Rangers get promoted to League 2 that Dalbeattie will be back in the league next year.
South Fan
I'm not sure if Bonnyton are licensed or if they are working towards it, if so not sure if they'll have it in place by end of season, unknown fan do you mean if Cove win promotion to football league then Dalbeattie Star could be relegated back into the south of Scotland league? Bottom club (Hawick) will be automatically relegated from LL onto EoSFL should it stay that way. Should Cove or any HFL club win the play off to get into SPFL then the bottom SPFL 2 team (looking like Cowdenbeath) would need a space in the LL therefore relegating Dalbeattie should they finish 2nd bottom. Only Peterhead Elgin and Montrose (even Montrose are borderline geographical wise? ) getting relegated, highly unlikely obviously, from SPFL 2 would save Dalbeattie from then dropping into the SOSL as they 3 teams would be HFL bound. It's all about keeping the numbers right I think. I could be wrong though.
FairWeatherFan
Out of curiosity with this being Bonnyton's first season. Is anyone surprised that they are doing so well?

Yep as Newcastle broon said, that the Lowland league runs as a 16 team league they have no plans to extend this or reduce numbers. So if a SHFL team (Cove) get promoted and only Lowland League bound clubs can get relegated this year then yes it is possible that the 2nd bottom team would get relegated to make way for the relegated League 2 team. Would be good if a West of Scotland league would be added to the 6th tier along side the South of Scotland and the East of Scotland. Every Champion gets promoted, bottom 3 from Lowland relegated. With the strength of the West with all the Junior clubs that could be part of it in time you would think it would be common sense to make the South of Scotland a feeder to that at a Tier 7, with the Junior west region area being the other feeder in the North west. Before you dig the nails in it is clear only a few South of Scotland clubs have any interest in playing Lowland League so a West version of it would make it slightly more appealing to a few. Saying all of that I hope the Champions of the SLFL or SHFL get promoted though would be disappointed if Dalbeattie get relegated. It's important that at least one team west of the River Annan to be representing the area at that level for the development of players and the option of being able to play at that standard. Not so, think they came into the league with a plan. Interesting to see if they do get into the Lowland in the next season or 2. Would some Junior players in the area be interested in jumping across to play for them in the Lowland League and Scottish Cup? It seems they are pro active and pragmatic. A former boys club with no Junior ties sitting in the middle of a Junior football hotbed. In time could be very successful if no West Juniors move over to senior football and the WoS tier 6 league doesn't materialise.
South fan 2
Don' think bonnyton,s ground would be ready for next season. Think league will be decided by the threave Bonnyton games with lochar and mids waiting for any slip ups.
debian
Bonnyton would need to be licensed by July to be able to go up, if they win the league.

They won't be very successful at all considering they have no fanbase, are located in a town which has a Premiership club and don't even play in Bonnyton itself. The senior team is an outlet for all the work they do developing players but that's about the limit as far as I can see. Robert James
On 10/02/2018 at 18:09, HibeeJibee said: They'd need to be licensed by March 31st, apparently, which in practice would mean at whenever the last SFA licensing committee meeting before March 31st occurred. Leagues end Saturday 28th April, with playoff - if both EOSL+SOSL champions are licensed - on Saturdays 5th & 12th May. As noted by NB bottom of LL (currently Hawick) are relegated unless neither champion is licensed AND winner of HL isn't promoted to SPFL2. Second bottom of LL (currently Dalbeattie) also relegated if both occur. Your post is correct. Promotion and relegation is needed to keep the pyramid fresh,. Does anyone know the date of the March Licensing Committee meeting, as it is rumoured that LTHV have submitted an application, which would guarantee at least one Lowland promotee, as Kelty are already licensed, and no other EoSL club is in contention. ? Toshson
Another good win for the form team Mids at Bonnyton. That's 10 wins in a row for the team from Lockerbie. Things are looking tight at the top and should be interesting.I'll go for Threave to win but they'll need to win there games in hand. Mids to pip Lochar for the runners up position. Aguerooooo
With the money Threave spend on players they should be running away with the league. Can only really throw it away now. What’s happened to Lochar?. Were flying at the start with all their superstars but seem to be struggling. At least St Cuthberts are not in the running. Watched some of Abbey Vale v St Cuthberts at the weekend, two average teams.
