Saughton game off!!!!

Recommended Posts

Was looking forward to catch up on how Peebles progressing in 2018 and see from FB game off ???- I checked Edin Leisure and they said playable yesterday and we've had good drying conditions in town since, this reeks of wanting to preserve the pitch for more 'important' games ahead, I'll guarantee rematch will be midweek at ridiculous time again as Peebles always seemed to get rough edge on these decisions - very disappointed

Tbf, even if it did end-up midweek it wouldn't be at a silly time as Saughton has floodlights.

Hopefully it isn't anything too serious with Saughton: on paper it's going to be hosting games almost every Saturday + Wednesday from next weekend to the end of the season, as the following list shows. That said some of them - e.g. Tynecastle league games - could be played after April 28th as they aren't in the title-race:

LTHV themselves, in terms of home-n-away games, will also be playing almost every Saturday + Wednesday from next weekend if they can progress in the cups:

It happens almost every season though so it's nothing unusual... combination of the pitch suffering a lot of postponements, 2 clubs groundsharing on it, and both of them (but LTHV especially) being very handy in the cups. From early April the council also chuck local youth finals onto it every night of the week (occasionally 2 in 1 night) and sometimes Sunday womens games as well.

Illustration is there are 14 Saturdays from today to April 28th, including 3 King Cup rounds - only clubs with more than 11 league games left are LTHV (15) & Tynecastle (14).

The point is though, Edinburgh Leisure declare the pitch playable on the Friday morning. The whole of Friday afternoon is dry and bright with decent temperature for the time of year. Tiny amount of rain overnight and nine forecast for the afternoon of the match. The pitch is simply not unplayable so what’s the motive for saying it is? Very poor from the home side

Nonsense.

OK, so as you won’t/can’t back you’re reply up let’s break the original post down:

Edinburgh Leisure declare pitch playable - accurate
Friday weather - accurate
Overnight weather - accurate
Saturday afternoon forecast - accurate
Nothing to have made the pitch unplayable - accurate
So by elimination, you say the game being called off isn’t nonsense. Nonsense!

That’s my thinking Pink Flag, rumour has it Tynie struggling for a team which would be surprising, does anyone know if clubs suspect foul play can they insist on referee attending and make the decision ‘independent’ decision?

More nonsense

The pitch wasn't playable. No conspiracy.

Those aren’t yomps, they are midweek fixtures, two in the same city (one same ground) and two no more than 30/40 mins away
