Albion Rovers v Stranraer

Recommended Posts

Is there anybody there?

Apathy appears to be on the up here with a lack of match threads this season.

Certainly loads for Blues’ fans to ponder with the departure of Belford to Forest Green and the return of Max Currie between the sticks.

Better news tonight with Angus Beith staying for the remainder of the season.

What’s the word on the weather Rovers’ faithful?

Rain now cb. Its to rain overnight and in morning but dryer in afternoon. Bet ref calls it off at 9.30am then its fine in the afternoon. Hope not.
Maybe the morning pitch inspection will say game on but when you arrive they'll have changed their minds. That couldn't happen, could it?

Surely time to call it quits. You've done it to us, we've done it to you. I'll settle for a draw on the sh*t call offs and get the game on today.

Quits. But I expect we'll again do it to each other (Matron etc etc) as that's what Scottish football does to its mug punters.

Another massive 3 points for THE BLUES.

Just so proud of the players and FAZ      for the manner we have dealt with our much publicised problems.

BEITH on fire and young CURRIE did well today looking at the live text and SFC Twitter Page.

Onwards and upwards.

KEEP THE FAITH

CMON THE BLUES!!!!!

Thoroughly deserved win with decent displays throughout the team, two more for the Goose and a rare but decisive Robbo strike!

Result underlined what a coup it was to secure Beith until the end of the season and it was good that Max came back into goals having been playing regularly.

We did well in extremely windy conditions on a poor pitch - but these were the same for both sides. A wee dip early in the second half and Rovers got a deserved equaliser. At that stage the game might have gone either way but we stepped up a gear.

Up to third - more important, another 3 points away from the bottom!

And a game with no bookings - as rare as hens’ teeth these days!

Well done Stranraer totally deserved. Looked dangerous going forward throughout the game. That’s a great loan signing you have in Beith -looks like a special player, took his second goal really well.

Dont know where this leaves Rovers apart from being in the relegation mire. The three new signings did ok but as a team we huffed and puffed quite a bit by sending long balls for Shields which were getting easily mopped up by the Stranraer centre halves. Our home form is absolutely killing us.

Yeah, hard to argue with that, Hard too to grudge Stranraer their recent good run, which comes at a time when conventional wisdom would tell you that being forced to let their top earners go would mean their season would come to a juddering stop.

As for Rovers, it was another new centre back pairing and another woeful defensive performance. To be fair to Mcdonald and Baur, it looked to me as if they had only been thrown together during the warm-up as Marr was slated to start in the earlier team lines,  Perhaps, with coaching and some time to gel these two will be the guys to achieve a clean sheet for the first time this season, but more likely we'll chop and change again in pursuit of the holy grail!

The above said, it was a pretty poor midfield and attacking performance too, although I would give Craig McLeish pass marks for breaking up a number of nascent attacks. It also wouldn't be fair to criticise the young goalkeeper who must be wondering what he's got himself in to.

Anyone know what happened with Marr?

Superb win yesterday. Was horrible conditions for both teams but there was some good football played by both.

Sloppy goal to concede but am sure albion rovers will say the same.

Thought the whole team played well yesterday. Beith now on 8 goals in 11 games. Always happy to see Robbo scoring.

Bring on East Fife
