1320Lichtie
Bobby Linn and Swankie both missed absolute sitters. But they had very good games, it was so typical that as soon as Swanks missed that we’d lose a goal and people would be on to him. He was good and I really wish it had went in for him. Remember at that stage the game was still 1-0 and there was barely any time left. Golds mistake was the main reason we dropped 2 points it was very poor from him but he’s a favourite so he gets the benefit of the doubt from everyone including me. Linns Miss was just as bad but he was great today and was unlucky not to have a goal with the one off the line. Mistakes and misses happen by players in football, would be good just to realise this and give them a chance, they’re only human.

The only clown is you using such language about a fellow A.F.C. supporter merely expressing his opinion. There are countries around the world would welcome you with open arms. 1320Lichtie
Don’t know if it was the same defender but gave away a foul shortly before the penalty with a stupid push in the back on Duggan when he was going nowhere. No that was Thomas O’Brien, that was a silly one too but out of the box atleast. I don’t think Gold actually done much wrong other than just not clearing it, the attacker was very clever (again what a sliding tackle btw wasn’t expecting him to get near it), slowed right down when he got into the box and Gold clipped him without even making a tackle and it was a clear penalty. 1320Lichtie
Without Bobby Linn Arbroath would be without 75 percent of their creativity middle to front. I've yet to meet a Fife fan who wouldn't have him back at Bayview... Well said. Bobby Linn is an Arbroath legend. Guys anything but selfish, if anything id rather he tried to get a shot away more often. Put several good balls in today, had one off the line, scored a belter that was softly disallowed and his only real failing today was that one on one. He seemed to have too much time if that makes sense.
SotesBornalichtie
Shame to drop 2 points at the death but we should have won the match. Was worried from the start with the 3 at the back, it didn't work too well in other matches so why go back to it again? Why are we so shot shy from the edge of the box? The EF penalty came from their player driving into the penalty box, something else we don't do often enough at pace. Felt sorry for Denholm, he tried hard but nothing came off for him today, probably his poorest game since joining the club. Thought the EF Supporters Brass Ensemble was quite entertaining, would've been better if they knew how to play the instruments though.

[/quoteI agree - great to see fans make a bit of effort to generate some atmosphere. ... and especially given the poor attendance for this time of year, not helped by poor home form..I think our management has to bear some blame. D.C. was on the touch line a good bit before the end making clear the players should slow down the game and see it out. As a result, we seemed to sit right back and allowed East Fife, who never showed second half to get right on top the last 5 minutes. I never want to see us sitting back at home, unless it’s against better teams. Mind you, should never had to be only one up late on
1320Lichtie
Our home forms been poor again this season, think my mate said to me that if Forfar and Albion Rovers win their next home games we will be the worst at home in the league. Could be wrong though. Definitely 7th at the moment anyway having played a game at home more than some sides.

I never want to see us sitting back at home, unless it’s against better teams. Mind you, should never had to be only one up late on I have to agree with this to be honest. It's very difficult to criticise DC yesterday in one sense as he got his starting 11 and the tactics correct in my opinion, as he did against Raith. However, as I've been saying since he took control his in game management can be naive at times in my opinion with yesterday a prime example. In his own post match interview, he says he feels we were well on top for the first 35 minutes of the second half and then we fell away. I completely agree with him, however a very big reason as to why we fell away was the substitution of our main attacking outlet who had seen a lot of the ball in the second half with almost everything being created going through him. Once we took off Bobby Linn, we lost our out ball and the player who could travel 40/50 yards with the ball up the park and take the pressure off which resulted in a lot more punting of the ball and the defence/ midfield sitting 20 yards deeper and inviting pressure onto ourselves. By this point poor Danny Denholm could barely move and he was obviously still struggling a wee bit after being out previously. Does anyone remember last year in the cup against East Fife at home? Totally in control for vast majority of second half, score a goal, take off an attacking outlet to go very defensive and promptly invite pressure on, concede a goal and on that occasion go on to lose the game. A lesson which evidently has not been learnt from. VERY frustrating. On the flip side - it wasn't Dick who missed a 1 on 1 in the last minute which would have sealed the game and it wasn't Dick who didn't clear the ball when he had the opportunity and then made a ridiculous foul in the box to give the opposition a last minute penalty. It's far from Dick's fault yesterday, but he does have to shoulder some of the blame. Also find it absolutely jaw dropping anyone is having a go at Swankie or Linn yesterday. They were the two best players on the park for us; as mentioned above things dramatically changed when we substituted Linn and Swankie showed exactly what he can bring to the team playing in his proper position IMO. If we can just never, ever, ever play Swankie on the wing ever again and give him a run of games up top in a 2 in the next few weeks beside Ryan Wallace then I could see the two of them forming a very good partnership. He'll always be a frustrating player to watch at times, but his ability cant be doubted and I'm sure we all know that if we play him in the right position tactically and if he's up for it then he's worth his place in the starting 11. Let's just never shoehorn him into the side when half fit or in the entirely wrong position in future.
LiamA
East Fife will attempt to wear the away strip at every away game. If you remember in the first game at Gayfield I felt there was too much similarities between r&w stripes & maroon & was surprised the ref (who has the final decision) allowed it! Maybe Arbroath felt the same & decided to avoid that again or maybe both teams felt there wouldn't be enough time to get the home kits washed & dried before Tuesday? Just saying like! Oh & rather than blame Swankie for missing the late chance how about some praise for fantastic save by Ryan Goodfellow? As much a point gainer as Sparky's penalty

Swankie is getting stick because all he had to do was square the ball to Mcintosh for a tap in and it would have been game over.
afc_36_0
Fantastic highlights package from east fife as always! We really should have burried that game yesterday but didnt and got punished. Linn was by far and away the best player on the park and swankie had his best game for a while but surely someone of his experience has to square that to mcintosh to make it 2-0. Always been impressed with lamont, has given our defence a torrid time the last 3 games.
