So a combined cost of approximately £100million a year  on paracetamol between NHS England and Scotland when actual over the counter cost would be under £5million

Surely something needs done on this example alone

I think it's more a problem with the system involved in dishing out paracetamol etc, it surely can't be hard  to create a cheaper system for dispensing such drugs.

I would have saved myself 30p per box out of Tesco but would have had to travel twice to get them.

Unfortunately it’s also being crippled by the amount of obesity related illnesses in this country .

I have a close friend who’s a GP and he estimates that approximately 75-80% of patients he sees have illnesses or conditions  caused as a result of obesity

I've never smoked in my life, and I'm within the acceptable BMI zone.  My GP hates me walking in (infrequently, tbf), 'cos she can't tell me to lose weight and/or stop smoking and leave it at that.  She actually has to put in effort diagnosing what's wrong with me.

This is probably down to the rigid KPIs that the Government enforces upon them. Along similar lines  to those that sees surgeons delay long and more complex (as well as sometimes life threatening) operations in favour of simple procedures such as bunion removal.

Your ailment obviously can't be ticked off in their spreadsheet easy enough.

PS - Sounds like you've got bad aids btw....

How much does liquid paracetamol cost per prescription?

How many paracetamol are being prescribed at a time seeing as your cost is based on an average per prescription and the supermarket cost is based on a fixed quantity?
