Christmas Breakwatch

Recommended Posts

December is upon us and as usual the EOS League takes a 2-weekend festive break. Occasionally clubs agree to play a competitive game but it's pretty rare: hasn't happened for quite a number of seasons, IIRC. However there usually proves to be a good variety of action anyway with friendlies being organised and sometimes even mini-tournaments.

In the spirit of Preseasonwatch please post up any details, e.g. Tynecastle's twitter says they're intending to play on Thursday 28th December (opponents unconfirmed).

Kelty Hearts have organised a 4-team 'Festive Tournament' the last couple of years and Bo'ness United and Dundonald Bluebell had been suggested for this edition. However I was on the Bo'ness website and noticed they've a news article up which says: Kelty Hearts Festive Tournament - we will not be playing any fixtures 23 & 30 December as per instructions from East Junior Management Committee. No permit will be allocated. According to threads in the Junior sub-forum clubs in both the East and West Juniors are not being allowed to play friendlies during the break this season - or at least on the weekends (it's not very clear) - which would obviously preclude their participation. LL plays right through.

Any indication if it'll go ahead midweek - e.g. public holidays - or perhaps with EOSL SOSL and/or amateur clubs?

Frozen off. Anyone know if HoB v Tynecastle went ahead?

With most clubs having not played for a couple of weeks before the break, and few friendlies during it, there may be a lot of rust to shake-off in the derbies a week on Saturday!
