If that’s a sending off then you’re telling folk they can’t kick the ball if an opponent is near. The speed the incident has happened at, I fail to see how he’s supposed to avoid contact.

It's a sending off because his follow through nearly broke May's ankle, irrespective of any lack of intent. Even Stevie Wonder could see that.
