Possibly. They often have various groups using the club in the evenings so it might be open.

Would probably be best phoning them to confirm though.

The Bowling Club is open, the QoS Travel Club are going there. One of the Bowling Club guys posted on either this thread or our club one at the back end of last week to confirm.

It'll be a tough match for both sides tonight.

It was a good point for the Sons on Saturday but they'll need to play just as good, if not better, to get anything tonight against a QoS side itching to make up for Saturday's loss to Livingston.

I saw Tom Walsh went off on Saturday after he picked up a wee knock. If he's out, it'd be a big blow for Stevie Aitken's side; however, having Froxylias fit and as a replacement again must be a massive boost, especially after his goal vs Dunfermline.

For Queens, it was a really bad result and I've read on here about the woeful set-up and tactics used by Naysmith.

Is this a big night for the Doonhamers? If they don't win, is GN under immediate pressure?

By the sounds of things from QoS manager and former Dunbarton player Alan Martin (on QOSTV, transcribed below) they are bitterly disappointed with Saturday and they know they'll need to come out fighting tonight.

I personally think it will be a draw, which would suit me as a Dunfermline fan!

I'm going for 1-1.

Here's the QOSTV comments I spoke of:

"It will be a horrible, horrible, night – there is no doubt about it. There is going to be a small pitch"

Is our pitch that small? I always thought that it was pretty average.

Used to be one of the biggest until it was brought right in to 68m by 105m by a previous manager. .

Aye, it's a fairly average size as far as I know. Not that it would make much difference in a Dumbarton v Queen of the South match anyway.

Think the 3 points is a must tonight. Tonight and saturday we really could do with 6 as the three games afterwards i have to admit i am not confident of picking up many points if any.

Inevitably father time appears to have caught up with Dobbie and Lyle this season as well.  Both have missed numerous chances they would have put away with aplomb in previous years.

Absolute rubbish.

Who scored the goals last week against Montrose ?

Who scored to kill the game off at home to Falkirk and who set him up ?

"Father time" does not diminish the ability those two have to finish and they are mentally much quicker to see things than anyone else - that's why they combine so well together.

The reason they - and the team - struggle is entirely down to the  way the Manager wants the team to play .

Many apart from me are now beginning to realise that too.

Surely we can't be as bad as we were on Saturday again tomorrow night?

I said the same thing on Saturday replacing "Saturday" with Tuesday. Look how that turned out.

Well it will actually. A small pitch instantly gives Dumbarton the advantage unless our players adjust the strength they put into their whooshes forward.

Would like to see McFadden more central and Stirling given a shot. Though both are probably unlikely. Hopefully we can at least create a chance or two for our strikers tonight.

I realised quite a while back .

I admire your optimism, it's a refreshing break from the majority of the rest of our posters.  However I think you are the only Queens fan on the planet who thinks this squad is capable of anything other than mid-table mediocrity.

I'm yet to be convinced Alan Martin is anything other than a decent 'keeper at this level.  Whilst that is a massive upgrade on last season I'm yet to see him make a "game changing" save such as the one Neil Alexander made on Saturday whilst the game was only 0-1.

Similarly whilst the defence has improved considerably on last season I still consider it to be a second tier defence.  Brownlie has improved incrementally every season, but is still nowhere near as good as Mark Durnan, who in turn struggled at the level above.  Kerr is young and whilst the signs look good that he may go far, it will be another team that reaps those rewards.  Fordyce looks a great acquisition and would possibly be in the top 5 centre-backs in the division based on what I have seen.  Full-back remains a weakness, particularly right-back where our manager still favours a centre half played out of position over the two specialist right-backs he has signed.

Our workmanlike midfield has been long discussed and is the root of all our problems.  No width, and no creativity.

Whilst on paper our forward options look superb it hasn't really panned out like that.  Dykes and Kane are workers with limited ability and Dobbie and Lyle are the polar opposite.  We haven't really found the winning combination to get the best out of any of them.  Inevitably father time appears to have caught up with Dobbie and Lyle this season as well.  Both have missed numerous chances they would have put away with aplomb in previous years.

We're far from a lost cause and it appears to me that most teams have their own troubles to seek meaning it wouldn't take all that much to make us playoff contenders.  For that to happen I think you're looking at probably 3 or 4 signings in January making a similar impact to those signed last January.   I doubt we have the finance for that.

Using the cliche football manager line of 'give them 3 windows to judge them' and approaching the 3rd one, there is at least some signs of progress.  Naysmith initially did a large scale fire fighting and the second window we've managed to start retooling the squad longer term whilst still being competitive. This was a side that had people talking of relegation and personally to be 5th was better than I was expecting.

Recruitment - Managed to replace an ageing defence with younger players and  still upgrade it mostly which is a difficult job but you would hope that Brownlie, Marshall and Fordyce  and to a lesser extent Martin could at least provide a steady core to build upon.  The Keeper is passable on account of not being a total liability and right back is still dodgy but Rooney could be a squad player I suppose.

I can see why he perhaps decided to keep the midfield core together with all the changes in defence but it is probably going to prevent us from being a playoff side. Tapping is definitely a player that is a lot better when he isn't playing. Having 3 senior CMs is going to definitely sting over the next month. Wide hasn't really developed with Stirling not really adapting to no longer being the main man and McFadden has been a pleasant surprise but still not someone you want to trust with such a limited wage budget and being 700 years old. Once again, Midfield is the focus in January IMO.

Loans - 3 out of 5 isn't bad going.

Development - You would say Dykes (on his day), Marshall and Brownlie are the main people that have gotten better. Connor Murray whilst never particularly impressing me seems to have his moments Not sure whether it's just Callum Tapping being bad at football but we always have a mini meltdown whenever Murray gets taken off for some reason.

Tactics - Is it exciting?  No. Does Naysmith make weird decisions that make little sense? Yes. Have we largely kept games close and been competitive? Absolutely.  I think if we ignore the Livi game we've largely played to our strengths, keep it simple and get it to the players that can make something happen.

IMO we're firmly back on the midtable treadmill but as you say hopefully with the cup money and loans we can at least push on a bit and be around the playoffs or be in a position to make a push next season. Cue an absolute hammering by dumbarton and meltdown.
