A cruel way to lose the game: a goal just over the line and at the same end as Oli Shaw's disallowed goal. McGinn didn't get to the ball in time: this moment allegorised his game. Perhaps he even prevented Marciano from making another magnificent stop. Marciano pulled off a stunning save from Hearts' new left-back, whom looks like a great replacement for a hole they have struggled to plug. Naismith was arguably the difference between the two sides; Hibs lacked a lynchpin between the midfield and forwards whereas Naismith provided a pivot for Hearts to move forward from.

As well as Naismith's link-up play cutting out their recent Hoofball, he looked like the bane of Bartley. Bartley was very poor, as were the majority of the Hibs side, but Naismith kept dropping back and popping the ball away from underneath him. If Naismith can be as cohesive with Lafferty as he was with Gonçalves & Mitchell, they should solve their issues scoring from open-play.

When Bartley's watertight ball retention begins to leak, he becomes a pointless player.

I felt that McGregor was excellent for his aerial dominance, albeit over relatively smaller players; Hanlon was also reasonably composed. Both of our full-backs floundered against Hearts' pressure and we were pressed into committing the same atrocities we have grown accustomed to from the Tynecastellans. Hibs firing cannonball crosses from our own half, without looking, is the sign of a side that is crying for changes. Lennon made none and persevered with the profligate punts up to players in maroon (and punters in maroon). The most frustrating piece of our play was not the wedged clearances or lumped passes; the worst aspect of our play was our own throw-ins damaging us more than the opposition. I have never wished for the opposition to get the benefit of a 50/50 ball out of play more than I did today. It was back to pre-relegation standards of flustered set-plays.

McGeouch was forced to drop deep to play simple passes that proved impossible for our other players. More often than not, McGeouch was unable to offer anything more than an outlet for terrified teammates to trickle balls to. I wasn't optimistic about our set-up or lineup; our players didn't seem confident at any point either. Levein well and truly had Lennon's Hibs in a box. They shook us in the manner we have done to them for the past five seasons and had us boxed-in from-the-off. That was the first time since 2012, maybe even 2011, where our derby dominance has dissipated. We should concerned about our run of inept displays stretching back to November; today was a continuation of our crumbling conduct on and off the pitch. Lennon & Hibs' season so far has reminded me of John Hughes & Hibs during the 2009-10 season. (We also had Stokes in 2009-10, back when he was scoring regularly and not dousing his #flames in alcohol.) Under Hughes, I felt that we rode our luck going into December and I have felt the same way under Lennon. I hope the club can react to this more effectively than we did back then.

The only positive I can take from today is that we didn't lose points in the league and have a week or so to sign a saviour to save our season.

Today's snow snuffed out our flames and sent our game went up in smoke.

This cold display mirrored the derby in December: Hearts were committed to playing passes whilst Hibs were committed to suicide.

It's funny, I honestly didn't think we had you shaken at all and was expecting a drab 0-0 once we'd seen the first half an hour or so. Our pressing was nowhere near the extent that we managed to inflict on Celtic for our win against them. We probably did just edge it but I think that was more down to how poor Hibs were today.

Delighted with the result though, our defence is as good as I remember in the last 10 - 15 years (helped as you say by the new left back now). Berra and Souttar could easily be a shout for the new centre back pairing for Scotland and thought Randall did well in his role too, though not as obviously as Berra and Souttar.

Naismith did well to link up the play alongside Cochrane - I said a couple of months ago I don't think he's ready...I take that back - and Cowie put in a shift when he came on.

I think I'm a bit of a boo boy when it comes to Goncalves and I'm blinded by my dislike by his laziness so thought he had a poor game for the reason at the start of this post, his inability to press high really frustrated me and comes across as lazy, but I've heard other fans praise his performance so happy to accept I'm wrong on his performance here.

It was never going to be pretty how we ended the Hibs run against us but I'll take it every day of the week, the celebrations were both bizarre for the delay and wild in equal proportions.

Hearts weren't brilliant, but they still shook a shell-shocked Hibs side on your 1916 Somme of a pitch. I think Hearts' gamble on Souttar, Hughes & Berra will continue to pay-off under Levein; plundering the pounds for Lafferty & Naismith looks likely to be another rewarding risk. Hearts may not bring in any more players after spending a significant amount on Naismith; barring injury, they won't need to.

Berra was clearly the standout performer; I mentioned Gonçalves as I feel he offers similar sharpness and quality on the ball that Stokes offers (offered) Hibs. As long as you have Naismith scurrying between the lines and around the final third, Isma could provide a potent threat going forward.

Unlike others, I feel that Lafferty offers a great outlet too.

Hearts were better, albeit not great.

Marciano Israeli good, but Hibs were really poor.

Awful game by 2 woeful sides. Hearts were compact and made it seem like they had 3 players to a man at times. The quality was... as predicted by everyone, lacking. The game was only ever going to be separated by an utterly ***** goal which Hearts have always had a knack for.

....and McGinn will be going nowhere unless freak-show porn becomes popular. He waves his arse in the air like a Geordie lass doon The Bigg Market on a Friday night.

Said it before and will say it again, the class in that midfield is McGeouch . Proper baller.

Once saw a dog do that in a fight, shoved the other dog all over the place, pretty clever, for a dog
