Brilliantly played by Aberdeen........so far! Don’t agree with a number of people on here that think because Aberdeen have turned them down Rangers don’t have the money for the compensation. Rangers are going to have to pay compensation for Derek McInnes regardless of how or when (or if) it happens.

Sevco have asked for permission to talk to McInnes, if they had met the value of McInnes's release clause they are obliged to allow McInnes to meet with sevco, with this approach being denied it's easy to assume they failed to meet the release clause value.

You might be right, but so sure that it’s as cut and dried as that.

I’m interested to see how the Daily Record and the BBC will handle this.
I’m sure they have a plan.

Traynor hasn't told them what they think about it yet.

Why the f uk would the board actually try and get beardy?

For every step forward we take five steps backwards..

He’s obviously the only candidate, so now we just have to hope that he tells them to stuff it.

if he were to resign his post then sign a contract at Rangers* then would there be a protracted court battle over the compensation, buying time for Rangers* to find a pot to piss in seeing as it would appear they either don't have the money for full compensation due to Aberdeen or are unwilling to put it up?

edit: a bit obvious but I think it's firmly up to McInnes at this point now there's been a rejected approach. If he tells all and sundry (media, Dons board, Dons players) that he wants to go then there'll be some sort of agreement, even if it involves instalments, and not necessarily meeting the reported £800k release fee.

Also just had a thought that they might have the cash to meet the fee but were hoping to get him on the cheap, or possibly that the offer was for the full amount but was spread out over a long time period. Pretty sure Utd offered us the full compo amount but spread out over a long time period for Jackie McNamara when he left Thistle for Dundee Utd but we wanted the whole amount up front which ended up being a drawn out affair before an undisclosed settlement was reached.
