MJC
I'd imagine we will take in the region of 14k-16k tickets for this one as we did in the 2011 Scottish Cup Final. I just hope it's a better atmosphere in our end than it was that day when our support by and large sat with their arses glued to their seats and their lips glued shut from the moment they arrived until the moment they left. The weather, performance and result didn't help mind. As it's Celtic we're playing we'll be at the opposite end of Hampden for this one which makes the whole 'Celtic end/Rangers end' of the National Stadium look stupid. Surely it would be common sense to allocate the East end to the club which is geographically easternmost, which would happen if we were playing say, St.Mirren or Kilmarnock. Still, we can't have Celtic upset that their fans have to sit in the 'Rangers' end of this neutral venue can we?
shugster58
Liverpool lost to Wimbledon. The great Leeds of the 70's lost to Sunderland. Wigan beat Man City. Saints beat the Manc shite. Didn't Raith beat Sellick ?
The_Judge
I think Motherwell will need a strong referee in terms of the physicality of the contest. I don't think Motherwell are overly physical but they seem well suited to a meaty game and in the second half yesterday they definitely won that battle. The atmosphere was brilliant in the 'Well end yesterday as, even though the crowd was double our normal, most seemed really up for it and cup finals tend to dilute that... We had half the numbers yesterday that we had at the 2011 final and yet we created twice the atmosphere. Sadly it's part and parcel that when we reach a cup final you'll get sisters, aunties, mother-in-laws and their best pals and folk who wouldn't normally contemplate going to a game turning up for this one. I don't see this final being any different in that respect. Hopefully though we are in a better run of form going into it this time unlike six years ago when we failed to win another game after winning the Semi Final and lost something like 20 goals on the last five games thanks to Stuart McCall and his tactical nous. That would certainly help matters if we actually go into this on something other than a downer.

I think it's to do with where most supporters walked to the ground from in the olden days. I can't imagine many people would fancy a walk from Motherwell to Hampden. If it makes you feel any better our end has only two pubs (both of which are shite) and it never used to have a roof.

The International Bar is actually pretty decent apart from the fact it tends to mobbed as its the only pub in that area where buses etc park for Celtic support. Only time I used Rangers end of Hampden was when I went to see the Stone Roses there in the summer so not sure of pubs up that end.

I ended up on a train I thought was going to Kingspark on Saturday and it went to Mount Florida instead. Sure this happens quite a lot unless we are playing the zombies as it happened against Aberdeen for the league cup final as well. There are a few good pubs in Shawlands, it's a decent night out. Swello
What will be worth watching with this game in mind is the way that 'Well will - in light of yesterday's game - now be portrayed as a sort of 80's Wimbledon brutal route-one team and how the referee will need to be strong. well91
That's fine, you want to be a happy clapper and ignore reality, batter in. I prefer a more realistic approach on the other hand. We were poor yesterday, nowhere near as good as we were against Aberdeen in fact but fortunately Rangers weren't good enough to punish us, but Celtic almost certainly will be unless we play a lot better on the day. It is easy to get lost in the euphoria of yesterday, I know i did, but the performance was not good overall. In the first half Cadden and Campbell weren't in the game at all, as we hoofed it about in what seemed panic for the first half an hour and thus Moult couldn't get into the game either apart from his effort which the keeper touched round the post. Cedric Kipre was HORRIFIC for the most part and was way off the pace and all over the place. I know now he was playing through illness but had he played like that up against Scott Sinclair or Patrick Roberts...it wouldn't have been pleasant. The Cup Final will take care of itself, we just need to make sure we are right up for it - I'm sure we will be - and every single one of our players on the day need to be at the top of their game. If that happens, we will have a slim chance. I'm not saying your wrong in your synopsis. We just differ as to what we think this type of site should be used for. I just prefer to concentrate on the positives regarding the club and team on the park, and let the management concentrate on the obvious negatives that need to be addressed. As for how difficult the final will be for us, you are totally free to feel how you do about our chances. Where as I chose to believe that we will win every game we play, because no matter what I think I can't make a single difference to how the team perform. Again only the management and the players can do that. So for myself i just like to believe We'll win every game until proved different, regardless who the opposition is. Have done so for 50 years, even when we have been totally pish.

I can understand it when they play each other, for geographic reasons but that should go out the window when it is against other sides. Us being down the Mount Florida end means that for anyone travelling on any of the buses, prepare for an extra long journey as the police direct you miles out your way. In 2011 our buses were sent over the Kingston Bridge, down by Dumbreck and through every side street in Shawlands. We only just made kick off by minutes. I've always found this weird - why should any club get a guaranteed end, dressing room, etc in a "neutral" venue- when the combined effects of all these small things only serves to make a team feel "at home". Normally I'd say, don't piss the OF team off by insisting that things are changed in case it motivates them more - but I'm the mood for 'Well to be as much of a pain in the arse as possible. Let's request the Jock Stein end that was so lucky yesterday and a wee shot of the home dressing room
