Berwick v Montrose

Recommended Posts

Mini revival from Berwick as Robbie Horn has found a formation that stops us leaking goals.

5 at the back, including some youthful pace from Fleming to balance the experience of Scullion and Mackinlay has apparently sealed the gaping holes we've had for years. There is also great energy in the centre from Notman, Lavery and McDonald.

Godinho for Stewart may be the only change from the cup win, though I'd like to see Irving get a start too as we need a bit of extra guile going forward. Also looking forward to more silky ball boy skills from the Prof.

Bring some Rennies. There will be wind

atrocious 0-0 draw on a gale-swept swamp.

Montrose have done well on the road this season but Berwick have improved a lot since Coughlin was wheeled off to the dinosaur museum.

we'll see.

Don't agree with the coughlin dinosaur bit. Results have improved under Horn, but the football has been more defensive oriented . Coughlin had a more attacking line up. As with everything though results mean more than performances and fans only really care about that.

Drab stuff.

You can't create chances if you can't pass to each other; you can't get sight of goal if you can't create chances; you can't shoot if you can't get sight of goal; you can't score if you can't shoot... It was a dispiriting match which Montrose had far more of a grip on, and if our late resurgence had produced an equaliser it'd probably be more than the game's efforts deserved. Poor viewing.

Could be a post from the Coughlin era. False dawn?

It's early days yet and of course Horne hasn't had a chance to bring in players.

So far under his reign, we've been scudded by QotS and Stenhousemuir; lost drearily v Edinburgh City and Montrose; ground out a win playing poorly against Annan last week; produced a big comeback to rescue a win against Elgin; and produced an excellent victory at Peterhead.

Certainly the next 3 games - H v Cowdenbeath, A v Annan, H v Edinburgh City - look a winnable triumvirate.

Thought Montrose should have killed the game off without a nail biting finish. Yes, a drab game overall but even allowing for bias I thought the Mo were a much more solid looking and experienced side than Berwick. Think Berwick will be pushing nearer the top than the bottom though but certainly need more sharpness up front. BUT so too do Montrose.

Can't see anybody pushing Stirling unless they implode.

So our only efforts on target were Thomson's on 3:25 plus the free-kick at the death. Obvious improvements needed.

Must say that, seeing it again, it was a good shout for a foul at 3:45. Although the ball has been over-run the defender is clearly impeding our man, unfortunately the theatrical fall into the box maybe costs him.
