It was decided at the West Management meeting on Tuesday that Clubs wishing to play official fixtures on 23 and 30 December should advise the General Secretary who will try to allocate such fixtures depending on number of Clubs making  a request. However no permits will be issued for friendly games on those dates.

Could be absolute chaos if more than two teams apply.

I'm not even sure that friendlies are going to be allowed in the East Region.

There is absolutely no reason why a normal calendar of games cannot be played on these two dates, or at least one of them.  Instead, we'll be playing 3 game a week catch-up from April-June. Madness.

Could have games between teams geographically close to each other if teams want to play. Bo'ness and Linlithgow played in front of a large crowd between Christmas and New Year a few seasons back. If teams want to play let them, teams in the west already missed out on a fixture last weekend and it may help, if even in a small way, the typical fixture congestion at the end of the season.

Absolutely bang on. Minimise travel for people and have games on with some meaning to them!

The fixture man is a joke if this is true.

By the time you get to 30th December, people are gagging for a game to get out of the house, it's the ideal time to schedule local matches and pull in the crowds.

If clubs have player availability issues then give them the option of opting out, not the other way round.

Exactly and nobody grudges players and management time off at this time but if there are clubs who want games played then let them go for it , also festive games can be great for people who are long distance fans who come home for the festivities and would love to see their favourites for even once a year , if clubs want to play then let them , if not then fine but give them the chance as it's semi pro football and not Sunday league
