Looks like Queen's Park have had enough of one-sided coverage and so a substantial article with quotes from them appears in today's paper.

Basically it clarifies SFA currently pays £308, 907 in rent - which QP say they make back with profit just from leasing office space to other football bodies, the Museum, plus Injury Clinic... i.e. before taking into consideration concerts, dinners, conferences or income from internationals and cup SFs & Finals.

They say reports of an £800k rent which appeared in the press are misleading as it includes £500k SFA is effectively paying to itself - until 2014 some £200k went to QP and £600k to debt interest, but once the debt was cleared £800k was continued with £500k represented as stadium maintenance in the budget.

QP say they've had no evidence of why it would cost "many, many millions" to renew - and if over poor maintenance that's due to SFA.

Finishes with stuff about flexibility and cultural significance.

Here's the statement from QPFC...

I don't quite know how to put this. Anyone suggesting a stadium in the Stirling area is a fucking moron.

:lol:

Actually are there any examples of mega stadia built about an hour's journey outside of the nearest major city?

An hour to Stirling? Its less than 40 mins in the car from glasgow according to google, half an hour on the train. If it such a ridiculous option then why would need to exaggerate?

I'd suspect it's almost unknown.

My knowledge of Eire geography is limited but Semple Stadium (capacity 53,500) - their 2nd largest - is in Thurles (population 7,900).

If you were to build an out of town stadium it would make most sense to have it near the M73 at Baillieston. Plenty space, in the middle of Scotlands population centre. Close to M8, M73  and M74. Rail links direct to Edinburgh, Lanarkshire. Glasgow central and Glasgow Queen street. with the ability to use the current network to run direct footbal specials from any of the Stirling inverness /Aberdeen lines if needed.  The X900 bus that runs between Edinburgh and Glasgow every 15 minutes and corpy busses all the time. Its perfect.

Plus I could walk to the 2021 cup final.

The whole having a rail link to run special train services is a non starter. Scotrail do not have the additional rolling stock to meet the demand.

Oh well you'll have to walk down the stairs to change at Queen street then .

Wait a minute you're from Dennistoun. get a train from Bellgrove  10 minutes you're there.

If you search online for "SFA turnover" you'll find various press releases, news articles and such like.

For the 2016 financial year, reported in June this year, the turnover of the "SFA group of companies" - i.e. including Hampden Park Ltd, the Museum, the Sports Clinic and possibly SSC + Business Club - was £35.8M.

Annual Review - on website - broke down turnover excluding those subsidiaries (£30.8M) as:
* 35% TV/radio
* 22% Scottish Cup
* 13% UEFA/FIFA
* 11% commercial
* 10% football development
* 5% international gate receipts
* 4% other

Previous 4 years were £29.4M, £31.8M, £28.5M, £29.6M. Average over 5yrs = £30.1M.

Incidentally expenditure broke down as:
* 35% payments to member clubs
* 25% staffing
* 18% match costs
* 10% football development
* 9% other administrative
* 3% departmental

25 % in wages   to 10% in football development  that's honking

SFA powwow is tomorrow according to today's paper, which strikes a sombre note about Hampden's prospects, although apparently concern about lost revenues streams has raised its head.

Presumably timed to coincide they've released a survey from the Supporters Association claiming only 15% of fans want to stay at Hampden, which depending on the wording astonished me.

They will never leave Hampden. The idea of pumping even more money into the bigot brothers by using their stadia will be vastly appealing to the Hampden suits but the need for a neutral venue in Glasgow for cup bigotfests combined with Scottish football not doing change will see them remain.

It's actually 41%, but 15% makes for a better headline.  Plus there is no indication in the survey as to how many of those who responded attend Hampden regularly.

This survey comes from the SFSA, an organisation with zero credibility.  A glance at their Twitter feed or their most recent newsletter will give you an idea of the sort of people they are trying to attract - a bunch of chip on the shoulder moaners who lash out indiscriminately at everything and everyone.  The Scottish football equivalent of Trump supporters or Brexiteers, if you will.  There is no way this is even remotely a representative survey of Scottish football supporters, and it's mad that so many news organisations are taking it seriously.

Heard their spokesman on the radio this morning, he sounds like an Englishman. Are there no Scots capable of running our football organisations?
