Mattress dilemma

Cycling is bad for the back,  testicles, prostrate etc.   But I have no problem with static exercise bikes.   I believe you can buy them in Argos.

Static bike actually very good for back. Allows you to sit completely upright and gets the blood flowing into the lumber discs. I'd suggest an online static bike specialist over Argos

The size of a headboard is a status symbol. It's a bit like having a large cock

Does it denote having a large cock, or is like having a sports car - the opposite?

Mine's fairly average in size, I think, but with bits falling off from overuse. Not sure if that's any help.

I agree.   What's important is that you don't let it spill into road cycling like @Unleash The Nade or naming your bikes like @statts1976uk.

Gym based cycling should be encouraged.   I once cycled 6km when listening to smooth radio.

I must admit limited knowledge on said subject; However if you have bits falling off I'd suggest a sticky glue like substance for instant fix.

Wife and I have decided it's time for a new mattress, I'm quite happy to have another "old fashioned "spring one but the good lady wife has been speaking to her mates and she thinks a memory foam mattress is the way to go. And P+B ers got any experience of memory foam mattresses good or bad ? Or am I right to hold out for the spring version ? Help needed to make my mind up. Ta

Memory foam mattresses are shite and if your wife is either fat or pregnant you will end up with a big divot at one side of your bed that you’ll never get rid of.

Tell your wife to f**k up.

Bit of wood glue and it'll be fine, I think.

Now, what's up with those boards that you get at the foot of beds sometimes (baseboard?). Fucking nightmare if you're staying over in someone's spare room, and they've got a bed made for a midget with boards at the top and bottom. Protection from monsters living under the bed, perhaps?

Always heartwarming to read that a fellow poster is in a happy, fulfilling relationship.

Is a headboard useful for anything other than banging against the wall when you want the neighbours to know you're being rattled?
I presume nobody's ever decided that they need a stout piece of wood at the head of their bed in order to stop themselves sliding off somehow.

It stops the pillow falling behind the bed.

I paid extra to have a memory foam mattress supplied with my super king size bed thinking we were being really clever, but within three years we got sick of it, felt it wasn't supportive enough and decided to replace. We looked around for a while to make sure we were getting one we were happy with long term, and it was after a stay in a hotel that we made our decision as the mattress there was great. 3000 pocket springs and pillow top. Comfortable and supportive in equal measure. Got ours for four ton. Had it about 6-12 months now and couldn't be happier with it.

What's putting me off the memory foam is that the good lady went and but memory foam pillows, I can't get comfy at all , Supermiks idea of a water bed was suggested but "what if I feel seasick "was her response, seems that the more springs the better and a topper might be the answer, cheers guys

^^^^obsessed! Thanks for thinking of me but I’ll stick to cycling on roads that, as the urban myth goes, my road tax pays for!

Waterbeds are brilliant but are only suitable for the ground floor in most old Scottish houses as they weigh a ton, literally. Worth trying one out though. They make them sectioned off if you don't want any wave motion, but it can be fun for shagging.

Hypnos or GTF

Lots of years ago, I was really into cars and hifi.

I'd spend loads on both of these, while I'd moan that the £12 DFS chairs

in my living room gave me backache.

Same with the bed and mattress.

In the end, I gave in, and bought a Hypnos Orthos mattress.

The backache disappeared ( Also replaced the DFS seats with something decent ).

On my second of those Hypnos orthopaedic mattresses now.  Brilliant.
