Selected pick of sides conquered by Scottish sides

I took about 4 hours to do this.

Should have taken longer mate.................

Also in the Scottish Challenge Cuo
Linfield by Queen of the South.
Cliftonville by Livingston.
Bala Town by Alloa Athletic.
TNS by St Mirren
Bray Wanderers by Elgin City
Sligo Rovers by Falkirk

Cliftonville have NEVER played in the Challenge Cup, it was Crusaders, their diametric opposites; that said, who will ever forget the defeat of high Walton in the FA Cup?

all time european result . has to be celtic beating leeds in the european cup semi final in 1970 .i think in many ways its overlooked . because celtic flopped in milan in the final against fyenoord. if celtic had won the trophy .the leeds result would have been regarded  as the best . leeds unt at that time had one off the finest sides ever to grace the game .but their ugly reputation didnt do them any favours .

but what a side sprake. bates. giles. bremner, charlton .reeny. gray . hunter clarke

Especially when Karagandy, Astana, The New Saints, Linfield, Dundalk and Barry flippin' Town have ambled onto the list.

Our 5-2 win in Monaco in 1981? Doesn't make the top 30 either. Sorry lads, they're no Barry Town, are they?

Killie beating Frankfurt at number 30?

They were runners up in European cup 4 years previously.

Killie 3-0 down after first leg, go 1-nil down in return leg then procede to win 5-1 going through on aggregate. One of the best comebacks ever by a scottish team. You've also not got Dunfermline beating Valencia in 1962. 4-0 down then won 6-2 on return leg.

The title is "Great Teams beaten by Scottish sides " and the first team is from Iceland. Really?

Scottish sides have performed miracles in Europe over the years, but your list does them no favours, in fact it trivialises their achievements.

That match ended Aberdeen 10 KR Reyjavik 0

But Aberdeen would have been expected to thrash an Icelandic team back then, albeit the scoreline is impressive. Although Icelandic football is now very much improved I doubt KR Reyjavik will ever be considered a "Great Team".

Yes, that was my point in quoting the score. We also won 4-1 away.

You've ranked all of Dundee's wins in the 62-3 European Cup except the biggest one. 8-1 at home vs FC Cologne who were second favourites that year (behind Real Madrid). We've beaten AC Milan twice at Dens but both followed drubbings in the respective away ties so we're pretty meaningless tbh

I realise I am biased, but you haven't put our wins over Borussia Moenchengladbach in the top 30? I mean, really?
I'm sure there are other omissions, but by Christ, that one leapt out at me.

They were fine achievements but don't quite match up with that famous victory for Aberdeen over Barry Town.

Here is my top 30 of achievements by Scottish sides to have beaten in competitive games. I take into quality of opposition, status of team defeated, number of teams to have defeated the foreign team, and also for bonus points either regional rivalry, or the exotic novelty of the win.
1. Barcelona by Celtic, Dundee United, Hibs
2. Real Madrid by Aberdeen, Celtic
3. Bayern Munich by Aberdeen, Hearts, Glasgow Rangers
4. Inter Milan by Celtic, Glasgow Rangers
5. Liverpool by Celtic, Hibs
6. AC Milan by Celtic, Dundee
7. SV Hamburg by Aberdeen, Hibs, St Johnstone
8. Leeds United by Celtic, Glasgow Rangers
9. Juventus by Celtic, Dundee United, Glasgow Rangers
10. Sporting Lisbon by Celtic, Dundee, Hibs, Glasgow Rangers
11. Manchester United by Celtic
12. Ajax by Celtic
13. Porto by Celtic, Hibs, Glasgow Rangers
14. Dundalk by Celtic, Glasgow Rangers
15. TNS by St Mirren
16. Linfield by Celtic and Queen of the South
17. Barry Town by Aberdeen
18. Shakter Karagandy by Celtic
19. Everton by Dunfermline
20. PSV Eindhoven by Dundee United, Glasgow Rangers
21. Anderlecht by Celtic, Dundee, Dunfermline, Glasgow Rangers
22. Red Star Belgrade by Celtic, Glasgow Rangers
23. Aston Villa by Queens Park
24. Nottingham Forest by Queens Park
25. Werder Bremen by Dundee United, Glasgow Rangers
26. Newcastle United by Ayr United, Hearts, Dundee United
27. Racing Club by Celtic
28. Astana by Celtic
29. Spurs by Motherwell
30. Eintracht Frankfurt by Kilmarnock

Aberdeen defeating Ipswich (the UEFA cup holders at the time) doesn't make this ludicrous list but Aberdeen beating Barry Town does? El oh el
