Jmothecat2
So as not to derail the work colleagues thread too much, what radio do you listen to, what radio are you forced to listen to that you can't stand?
throbber
I used to always listen to radio 1 from the age of 13 - 25, admittedly by the age of 25 i was starting to get a bit sick of Chris Moyles but used to love his show around about 00/01 time when he was on in the evenings and Saturday mornings. Remember Sarah Cox being on the mornings at that time and she was utterly dreadful, Scott Mills would fill in for her when ever she was off and he was so obviously a far superior presenter and human being that it was just ridiculous it took so long to get him a permanent slot there. Jo Wiley had a decent show as well and so did Colin and Edith for a few years. Couldn't even tell you who presents on radio 1 nowadays apart from Nick Grimshaw who is utterly dreadful. Quite enjoy Chris Evans and Ken Bruce on Radio 2 and always try to do Popmaster. James O'Brien is good on LBC but it can get quite depressing listening to him every day.
Kennboy1978
Forced to listen to Smooth FM all the time. Abba, The Bee Gees, Elton John.... Absolutely hate it.
Mackie The Staggie
I'm fortunate to work away from everyone else so I get to chose what I want, most of the time it will be 6 Music and the occasional Podcasts when the mood takes me. The rest of the office are all tuned to Moray Firth Radio although everyone's free to have headphones on and listen to whatever they want.
Rugster
Radio X on the way to work and Radio Scotland on the way home.
Jmothecat2
Radio X is the one that always irritates me. Whilst Radio 1 and 1 xtra are probably worse I rarely have to listen to them so I'm not that bothered by them. Radio X seems to have just a whole group of jaded people who haven't been relevant for about 15 years playing formulaic Indy music from 10-20 years ago (with an Oasis track at least once an hour). There must be a listenership who actually still like all that shite, but I wonder who it is sometimes.
Jmothecat2
My dad had a tendency to put on NECR when I was growing up when all I wanted to listen to was Northsound. Got 6 music on just now, but I'm very hit and miss with it, sometimes it goes too hipster (plays music that isn't in the least bit tuneful because it makes you look serious about music if you pretend to like something unlistenable). Find the morning show usually plays decent stuff though and a decent mix of styles. Bit of Run-DMC already.
Count Mongo del Fantastico
Tends to be Absolute 80s or 6 Music, though with Amazon Prime I lusten to music on that more these days. Work folk seem to love Heart FM which leads me to believe they've never actually liked music in their life.
Hamish's Passenger
Absolute Radio until about 9am. Will listen to The Two Mikes on Talksport if they're on during the day, then normally listed to Adrian Durham and Darren Gough on Talksport from 4pm. In between I listen to my Spotify playlist. Can't stand Radio 1, Forth 1 and all the other local stuff.
locheedfcno1
Magic radio[emoji20] used to like talksport but far too many adverts. Tay fm is on in the work and it's a bit meh
D.A.F.C
Absolute radio 90s or radio one from 7-9pm. Talk sport on occasion but it usually annoys me. Especially Alan Brazil.

Shandon Par
I listen to podcasts from a few stations but during the day at work I listen to 6 Music. You can't escape some of it being annoying shite (eg the new Bjork single which has no mucic, just her screeching) but there's always plenty of good stuff too from all sorts of genres and time periods.
Jmothecat2
What podcasts do people listen to? I regularly download two, but that's pretty much two hours a week of listening which is pretty much one commute to and from work.

Unfortunately a lot of rock fans despite appearances are innately conservative and lapped it up. Held out hope when they started doing a request slot, but it was pretty much "and Willie from Baillieston has asked for some AC/DC...next up, AC?DC hour...." invergowrie arab
Radio 2 in my car and office Chris Evans is absolutely fucking shite but what else you going to listen to? Ken Bruce is good though. The acceptable face of rangersism. If I'm out and about I'll listen to H&J on talksport. Only good thing on that shit show of a station. Listen to quite few Radio 4 and 5 shows but mostly catch them on podcasts.

Worth looking at the football podcast thread in the Misc Football Section on here. Magic Sponge that Jimmy Bullard, Rob Beckett and Ian Smith do is brilliant IMO.
The Chef
Radio 2 in the house. Planet Rock, Absolute Classic Rock and Radio Scotland in the car.Get It On on radio Scotland is probably my favourite. The rock channels do play a lot of the same stuff but it's far better than some gash like Capital FM that my daughter insists on putting on!

Danny Baker on 5 live, In our Time, Infinite Monkey Cage, Off the Ball at home with Colin Murray although that's finished for now, fighting talk, Richard Herring although very dependent on guest quality, Adam Buxton same for guest quality, my dad wrote a porno - hilarious for first couple of series, Athletico Mince is fantastic and Bob Mortimer's best work IMHO
