Aye, they bombed. Clunie was actually a centre-half but went upfront at HT when they were 5-0 down :lol:.

Tbf most of their players were high-flyers - all of them played for Football League or Scottish League clubs except the 'keeper (from Grantham of the Midland League).

Oddly enough the following season's game - at Old Trafford - was drawn 2-2.

However the next season the RAF crashed 13-0 at Peterborough.

Indeed, the Tower Ground at New Brighton in Merseyside. Home to New Brighton Tower FC (EFL 1898-1901) and New Brighton (1923-1951) after their park got bombed.

fascinating (I need to get out more) to see where it was in relation to the actual Crystal Palace - exactly where the current National Athletics Stadium is, and (of course) nowhere near Selhurst Park...
