Too Far (Erasing History ) Removal of Statues

The destruction of the material culture of any particular group isn't anything new. In many conflicts one of the first methods of trying to assert power and erase identity is to start destroying things such as churches, monuments, books, art - anything which is important to the enemy.

The idea that this is anything new or suddenly a step too far is daft. The same thing has gone on worldwide almost as long as wars and conflicts have been going.

Tbf though as had slavery, it never began when African Kingdoms realised they could sell people to the white man. The mass slaughter of civilian populace is even older but we then decided these were a step to far (well most people did).

The Persian empire had slaves long before the "white" man did. As unpalatable as Empires are, many bring advancement in many forms. i.e British Empire - industrial revolution.

Very good points. That said, where would a Stalin statue be appropriately placed? WWII - good guy..... The rest of the time an utter c**t!

They've got one up in Gori which doesn't seem to be too controversial. There's the museum right next to it which, although massively biased, gives some context.

If the issue was the statues, our insane right wing friends would simply accept the position that these statues should just be put in a museum.

But the statues are an attempt to distract from the incompetence in the White House.
