How difficult is it for the people making the decision on who to hire to just do a quick scan on candidate’s social media accounts?

Considering they must not have scanned his record as Valencia manager I'm not surprised they didn't scan his twitter

Why is everyone making an issue of Neville getting this job without any top level management experience but nobody is making the same points about Ryan Giggs and Wales (ok he had 4 games in charge of utd). Is it because its the woman's team or because its England?

Are you Ryan Giggs' brother? 8)

calm down everyone - rather than being a wife-beating, probable racist - turns out that Phil "battered" his wife at a game of table tennis while they were on holiday

looks like all the spluttering fuckwits might have got all offended about something for no real reason and fabricated all sorts of cuntish allegations about a decent family man - who'd'a thought it,  eh ?

still a shite manager, obvs...

West Ham's head of player recruitment in being a big ol' racist controversy:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/sportsnews/article-5335207/West-Ham-director-sparks-race-row-African-stars.html

Quote

Henry sent an email on January 27 — in response to an inquiry about a footballer of Cameroonian descent — to another senior West Ham official and an agent.

In the email, Henry wrote: ‘We don’t want any more Africans and he’s not good enough.

Henry then confirmed it was true and suggested it was a policy supported by club management. ‘Yeah,’ Henry replied. ‘Because we had three and we felt we didn’t particularly want any more African players.’

Asked why, Henry replied: ‘Erm, no reason. It’s nothing racist at all. It’s just sometimes they can have a bad attitude.

‘We had problems with Sakho, with Diafra Sakho. We find that when they are not in the team they cause mayhem. It’s nothing against the African race at all.

Terrific.

Glad he's got nothing against "the African race". That's that settled, then.

Yeah hes just against employing them, no biggie.

if the mail had said "yeah - great - we love players of African extraction - they've universally proved to be hardworking, cheerful and good to work with" should he still be labelled a racist - or is just the fact that, in his experience, he has had a (number of) negative experiences and has made this point, entirely within context, that means that he needs to be tarred and feathered ?

playing devil's advocate rather than joking

putting hysterical overreactions to one side, it is reasonable that if asked a question about a particular demographic within the sphere of your specific professional remit about which you have an informed (and presumably honest) opinion, you can only allowed to respond positively for fear of being labelled a racist - should he just have said "no comment", and nothing else - no qualification at all ?

In this instance he negatively generalised about Africans based on a small number of examples. That's bang to rights.

This is going to be an interesting one, as it certainly looks like the person who leaked the email could well be David Sullivan. He has form for this sort of thing. With the FA investigating, we should hopefully find out.

doh - my money was on the aggrieved agent who had failed to hammer out a lucrative deal for his man and thought he'd drop the WHU bloke in the mire by way of revenge...

If he’s outing a blatant racist, then not too fussed what the motive was. Good to see.
