I would assume for financial reasons, they aren't the first North region team to do so. A home draw could actually cost them more than an away tie.

Pretty much sums up the way the junior game is going when teams won't or more accurately can't take the risk of entering the grade's premier competition.

We had a couple of draws in recent years, Longfield (Peterhead) & Sunnybank FC (Aberdeen) whereby the home teams had to pay a percentage of our coach hire.

The home club has a minimum guarantee that they have to pay the visitors. There will be a lot of ties in the early rounds where the gate money doesn't cover that sum. Here's the extract from the rulebook.

3. In all ties up to but excluding the Semi-Final stages of the Cup
competition the first drawn club must guarantee to reimburse the
visiting team the amount due according to the following table:-
Distance 0-25 miles Guarantee £55
26-50 miles £95
51-75 miles £120
76-100 miles £170
101-150 miles £220
151-200 miles £270
201-250 miles £310
251-300 miles £340
Mileage shall be calculated on the basis of the shortest single
journey between the competing clubs.
In addition those clubs incurring a 201 plus mile single journey, the
Association will contribute a further 50% of the above guarantee
towards the away team’s travel costs

Am I right in understanding that a team who travel 200 miles get a guaranteed £270, whereas a team traveling 201 miles get £310 + 50% = £465? So almost two hundred quid more for a mile difference.

Obviously there have to be boundaries but that jump seems bizarre.

This is a feeling that can not be matched in Junior football. There are many teams and their supporters that have experienced this great achievement.
So on that note, Good luck to all clubs this and every season [emoji471][emoji471][emoji471]we need our junior football.

Unless I'm not getting what you are saying, does this make any sense? First two sentences seem to contradict each other.
