Morton v Livingston

Recommended Posts

Good to get our first win in the league, will stop a bit of the panicking that was starting to show from some of our fans. Was worried about the thought of Alan Lithgow against Championship teams but seems like he's what stops us conceding so fair fucks

Hyperbole.

Nesbitt is an ineffective winger who contributes little to nothing and we shouldn't be taking him back. We already have Tiffoney who can be an ineffective winger but who occasionally contributes.

#gary what a shite post mate. Duffy has done a smashing job at Morton. Just cause you lost to FC Hollywood doesn't mean it's the end of the world, Morton are a solid championship side who've progressed since he's took over. Still in the race for a play off spot so don't be a fanny and make out you're on the same level as Brechin cause yous have done well the past couple of years.

Condescending pish which would count if we were happy to be seen as a perennial diddy team.

Agreed. We can't expect to breeze through every game and today was one of those days where certain players didn't play well enough and nothing worked for us. On the other hand, Livi were hard working and played well as a team. They got the ball down and while they didn't really cos us as many problems apart from the goal, totally deserved their three points.

Don't think anyone had Morton down to win the league? All he's said is that Morton are still in the hunt and a strong contender for the playoffs. Which is true? Duffy has done a brilliant job at Morton and has cemented them as a core team in the Championship.

That was basically a repeat of the cup game.
Murdoch was asked to do far too much owing to most of the rest of the team not turning up.

We couldn't cross for toffee, were second to every ball and wasted the few corners we won. Interesting the comments on Jai - I was surprised he wasn't one of the ones subbed. Needs to calm down and shoot once in a while.

Livi were miles hungrier and deserved the win. That blonde number 31 at right back strolled the game despite taking a booking early in the 1st half.

Livvy control the game yesterday and deserved their win. Apart from a couple of runs from Quitongo, we created the square root of feck all. Hopkin has done a great job there.

For us, we really need to change the Forbes/Thomson as wide men as it just doesn't work. Forbes has done nothing for months. Bring in a winger with pace who can beat a man and get crosses in the box.

Doyle is fine defensively which is his job first and foremost but going forward he is really poor and really needs to work on his distribution and crossing. You would expect that to get better over the last year or so, but it's actually got worse.

Russell plays like he is playing 5s with his mates on a Thurs night. Very  lackadaisical and not a care in the world. Your heart is in your mouth when he decides to take a few players on. He can do it, but more often than not, he takes it too far and eventually loses it putting us under pressure.

Duffy has a few things to work on, just hope he brings in 1 or 2 before the window shuts, it's badly needed.

Midfield is the big concern. On paper Tidser - Murdoch - Forbes should work but it doesn't. Murdoch was the only one who turned up yesterday, combined with no pace or width on the flanks Livi just ran over us and defended well.

Duffy will need to make a decision and drop either Tidser or Forbes for someone to play alongside Murdoch, like Lindsay did last season.

We also need need someone with pace on the flanks to stretch defences. Lets hope Duffy is looking at loans this week.

Yeah was a bit clumsy getting in a tangle and falling onto your player for his booking. Quitongo gave me the fear when he got the ball around the edge of our box but he seemed apprehensive to take Gallagher on and once he hesitated another Livi player arrived to double up on him and then he turned and played the ball backwards. Even when he got through on goal he gave Gallagher enough time to stretch out his leg and poke the ball away before he could shoot. Fantastic tackle by Dec though, if he'd mistimed it he'd have been booked again and been sent off. Apart from that there was a cracking save by Alexander to tip it over the bar and that was about it, both of them pulled off tremendous stops to win us the game.

Big Toddy scored a goal with a nice bit of composure for our cup win but was wasteful yesterday with a couple of decent chances, hopefully John Hartson coaching our strikers will help him out, the big fella is a handful but lacks a killer touch at times. Penrice was a bit too safe on the wing with him not familiar with the rest of our players, looks a decent player though and will no doubt get down to the bye line once he's had more games and knows how we play.

Lithgow doesn't get much credit in our back 3 because Halkett and Gallagher stand out over him but he's got some skills on the ball and we really missed him last week against St Mirren, he's a big part of getting the ball out of defence and setting up the strikers with long diagonal balls for them to run onto.

It wasn't far from where I was standing - IMO he had been beaten by Quitongo (I think) and took one for the team. Beats me why our team didn't put him under pressure afterwards, but he was the best player on the park yesterday.

Just thought I'd pop in to see if this thread was full of gloating Saints fans posting immature memes, pics of crap cooks and travel presenters.

Hoped it woudn't be, and glad to see it isn't.

Can you just imagine what would be happening on the Saints matchday thread if we'd lost at home to one of the promoted teams and Morton had just cruised by the league favourites?

I think everyone's over on the Falkirk threads just now.
