Rutherglen Glencairn 2017-18

If there was a prize for inconsistency there would be five or six teams in the middle of this league fighting for it. The truth is NONE of them are good enough for the Premier division, ourselves included. Whether 4, 5, or 6 go up it is a certainty that two of them will come straight back down again.

I agree with that

Huge week coming for the glens, looking forward to the game tomorrow, imo if we dont get at least 4 points in the next to league games and  it could be a struggle to get a playoff spot.

We've certainly not given ourselves much wriggle room. But we tend to play better against teams above us in the league, so hopefully that continues. We need to stop losing sloppy goals, the two on Saturday were poor again and that's been our achilles heel this season. Hopefully we can keep Smith and McKay firing as well, but we can't afford to miss match-winning chances like McCall's open goal miss on Saturday. I still can't quite believe that one.

That was a terrific performance from us tonight, and big Smith just keeps producing the goods, That's 25 for the season now in only 17 starts.

We need to keep that sort of form going though, nothing less will do against the other teams we've still to play.

Just to mention, Glencairn had a Trialist goalkeeper tonight who only met the players for the first time an hour before the game. He did very well. We were missing Jack Baker, Andy Neil, Craig Palmer, Jordan Leyden, Jamie Hamilton and Liam Gormley through injury and holidays.

What a result and performance every player gave it there all.

Very good game of football tonight.

25 goals how many have been free kicks just knew his second free kick was going in before he hit it.

I'm not sure but it must be about 7 or 8. It's as good as a penalty !

It's never about the players that are missing. It's all about the players that are there and they all turned up tonight. 3 magnificent goals from Gary, but for me it was all about the desire to give nothing away when we got our 2 goal lead. Indeed we managed to stay on the front foot for the whole game, and could have scored more. Every ball was fought for, and most were won. Outstanding effort from the whole team.

Very true, but I felt it was appropriate to point out the selection problems that Willie Harvey had before tonight's game. We only used one substitute, even though we wanted to run down time. Two of our named subs were never really going to play and one other was an u21 call-up. The team really stepped up their performance tonight, but they will need to keep that level if we are to finish in the top six.

If you have that many out this may cost you in the run in?
