Gateshead Home to Chelmsford City  who beat Bath City 1-0 in the replay tonight.  Winnable tie I suppose. Gateshead need a decent run. Poor crowds but fa cup run  and new manager in Steve Watson might just see a few more in through the gates.

Hartlepool tough tie away at Morecambe.

All ties scheduled weekend of 4th November.

perfect - either one of them about thirty miles up the road - watch Rovers get humiliated by rubbish non-league sorts, then belt home for extreme drunken revellry at Lewes Bonfire !

Shaw Lane vs Mansfield will be a telly game I reckon

Hyde vs MK Dons another with a chance

I hope Hyde have the same twitter guy they have had for the last couple of years, he was quite entertaining.

First Round proper starts tonight with 3 ties including one of the two Level 8 sides, Hyde United v MK Dons, on BBC. The other Level 8 side Heybridge Swifts are away to Exeter City on Sunday. At least 5 non=league guaranteed to make it to the Second Round

This Shaw Lane lot look as if they genuinely are a diddy club growing organically and having a great run. Sad to say the first thought is now that they must be being financed by some local nouveau riche crook businessman. Best of luck to them if it's the former. If not, f**k 'em.

That's a pity. Their rise did seem a bit meteoric and a couple of the players a bit dodgy but from what I saw and heard there wasn't a single mention of financial doping, which is unusual as the egotists who've bought their latest penis extension usually love nothing more than talking about  and promoting themselves.

'mon Mansfield.

horribly prescient for 35 minutes - and even coming back to win 6-2 that was the most appalling game of football i've seen for a very, very long time (and believe me, i've seen some real shite) - magic of the cup, my arse - thuggery, comedy defending, disinterested players, horrible place - but i do like their ground, proper old style place, and one of the very few places i've ever been given a slap, for some added old-style nostalgia (gravesend and northfleet v maidstone united at some point in the mid 80's)

home draw (or away north of a line from merseyside to the humber) against someone crushingly dull in the next round please, so I don't have even the slightest inclination to make the trip....
