I had a Walkman stolen by a 'friend' as a kid (well, the brother of a friend). Soon worked out who nicked it and caught him in the street after a chase about with him on foot and me on my bike. It was a weird feeling as we both knew what had to be done and I took no pleasure from punching him in the face. I'm a hippy pacifist at heart and although it wasn't pleasant there was no grassing or need for him getting in trouble etc.

I have aquired footage of this incident. Nice work...

MY bike got nicked from the sheds at my old work. It was behind a locked fence in a shed monitored by CCTV but the uselessmsecurity guards just watched as three guys with an electric saw walked in, jumped the fence, butchered our locks and walked off with the bikes. These guards would make you sit about for fifteen minutes if you forgot your work pass but when it came to actually securing the building literally did nothing.

Would you have tackled the three guys, take the saw off them an tie them up waiting on the cops to arrive like?

My maw's wee 80 year old pal tripped and fell on a loose slab outside Tesco and some despicable sack of shite stole her bag when she was on the ground.
She now has several broken bones and lost the £50 that was in her purse.
Have you ever been a victim of crime? What was stolen?
Are you a criminal? Would you steal a 80 year old's bag without hesitation?
My bike got nicked a few years ago. The cable on the bike lock was cut through.
The bike didn't cost that much but it was the principle of the thing. I was seething. Head's gone. I was ready for quitting my job and devoting my life to finding and destroying the scoundrel to teach him.and his ilk that they can't behave like that. I was ready to go to jail over it.
Over to you.

In answer to the various questions posed:

1. Yes.
2. Is it only theft we're on about? Ok, some ancient old cassette tapes and assorted shite out my car.
3. Criminal. Hmmm, I suppose I have committed crimes in the past but I've rarely been caught. Not sure.
4. I'd probably not steal an 80 year old's bag, at least not without a bit of hesitation. Unless she was a cow.

The bit after the questions makes it sound like you were going to take matters into your own hands. I often hear our wonderful police service saying the public should not take matters into their own hands.

Guy living upstairs stole our stereo and some jewellery. No way of proving it so I wound round his old fashioned and partly broken electricity meter to give him a £500 quarterly bill.

I've considered both sides and I think that, on balance, I'm against crime.

Without crime you wouldn't have films like Goodfellas, The Godfather, Pulp Fiction, Scarface, Reservoir Dogs, Casino and Home Alone.

There's a country road I know, where the lifestyle's kind of slow, and the hills and mountains come right up to face you. There's a petrol station there, run by a really nice man with silver hair, who is very very old and never can quite place you. So just fill up your tank, neglect to pay the daft old w**k, because he's far too slow to get off his arse and chase you.

Sister and brother in law had their property broken into a few weeks ago. Have a safe in their room which contained passports, birth and marriage certificates, cash and some jewelry. All of that was taken, however credit cards and debit cards left. Police said that they will just sell them on for a nice sum.

Their neighbours were done about a year ago, in which they had laptops, a TV and games console took. Police asked them to make sure there was nothing else, didn't notice anything, so said that was it. Around a week later they woke up to find both cars had been stolen. They had taken the spare car keys on the original break in.

Even victimless crime or victims you don't like?

Without crime you wouldn't have films like Goodfellas, The Godfather, Pulp Fiction, Scarface, Reservoir Dogs, Casino and Home Alone.

Hmmmm... I think I may have to reconsider my position.

I'm now pro-crime, so long as nobody hurts my face.

You know I'm not racist. All I wanted to be when I was growing up was a gangsta rapper from Compton.

Same. I'm still hoping a scout from South Central notices my skillz.

My sense of wonder died when I found out that Ice-T came from an upscale background and he got good grades at school.

After that I wasn't sure what was real in this world.
Does Homer Simpson even work at a power plant? I'm just not sure anymore.
I'm just not sure.
