Queen's Park - 150 years old on 9th July

Recommended Posts

It'll receive scant coverage in the media, so I just thought I'd highlight that the mighty QPFC are 150 years old on Sunday 9th July.  Stories of our demise have been greatly exaggerated.  Inventors of the passing game, and acknowledged as such by Barcelona.  You are all as you are because of us.  You're welcome.

On Saturday there will be a fives tournament at Lesser for supporters and ex-players. Got plenty already registered to play but everyone welcome. A few legends will be getting the boots on I hear. Who wouldn't want to join the long list of folk to get crocked by Eddie Hunter? This will be followed by a sesh in the social club

an unadvertised correction (arranged a week ago) is that the Sunday does not close at 4.00pm as the 3.30pm FFIT event is an 11-a-side match v Dunfermline Athletic, so that will go on until 5.15pm so no need for anyone to leave at 4.00pm if they don't want to!

Happy Birthday to Us!

For anyone around the world or not attending any of this weekend's events I've dropped a pdf copy of the Souvenir Brochure which (hopefully) can be found at this link below.  Far too good a story to be kept amongst the chosen few.

Even though I know a fair bit of our history, seeing it all together like this really brought it home what a great club QP are and how much they've contributed to the game across the world. Ludere Causa Ludendi.

Enjoy yourself....

Milestones sort of make you reflect back on things a bit. Madness when you actually think back to the number of utterly tremendous moments following QP. Too many to even mention. Promotions, beating Premier League teams, last minute goals, some great sides. It's just a great club to be part of. Here's to another 150 years.

Incredible that when QP were formed France sill had an Emperor, Japan still had a Shogun, Germany wasn't yet unified and several confederate states hadn't yet been readmitted back into the Union.

I didn't know any of this was on but stumbled on one of the Heritage Walks at Cathkin Park when out for a run yesterday. I enjoyed the stuff I listened to so thanks to everyone for letting me tag along for a bit.

Hope you all had a great day. Best of luck for the new season and the next 150 years.

We all owe QP a wee debt.
