@Mr Prez  Top 3 this season :thumsup2

You might need to hold my hand for these Ayrshire trips in 2018-19.

Good idea to put in the play-off amendment, leaves a lot of teams with things to play for at the end of the season where as if they hadn't put them in there would be a lot more dead rubbers come February onwards.

Quick question - Does setting it as 4x16 limit new applications? If for example at the end of next season Duntocher Hibs, Blantyre Celtic, Bonnybridge and Hurlford Ams applied to be part of the Junior setup would they be rejected? would the bottom league be expanded or could we end up with 3x16 and then say 2x10?

From memory, it was worded something like "there will be a Division 2" rather than limiting numbers in case of something like that.

Aye that's right TP, where the top 3 leagues were specified as having 16 clubs, it was worded "there shall be a West Region League Two of all remaining clubs" to cover changing numbers.

Very good amendment made by Larkhall about play-offs at end of the season. Looks like the most sensible way of organising the leagues for now, of course as a few years pass clubs will find there place. This change is definitely good for the juniors. Looking forward to it.

There was an amendment from Larkhall voted through to introduce promotion/relegation play-offs for next season.

The amendment is a good proposal for me. Keeps it interesting and gives more teams a chance to stake a place in the top flight.

Great informative post from the OP and then I got a bit confused by TP's post about division two, until I of course realised that by division two he meant league two which is obviously the FOURTH tier.

Please, please, please can we not use the same naming convention that the SFA adopted based on the fact that's how it's done in England.

Let's not have three quarters of our leagues or divisions with synonyms of one in their title. It's just confusing for anybody on the outside looking in.

If we are going to copy anyone why not the Germans or the Spaniards who's second top league has the number two in the title.

Yes, best post for ages.

Please, everybody get their clubs to vote for an abolition of the proposed "Premiership, Championship, League One, League Two" crap.

It's unimaginative, it's pathetically copy-cat, and it's totally illogical.

The reason the English intoriduced it was because the top league wasn't run by the Football League, it was instead run by the clubs itself. So the top league run by the Football League became The Championship. But in Scotland that's not the case, all of the league are run by the SPFL, but instead they just copied the names without thinking about why they are called that. It's pathetic.

Now the proposal is to call our leagues the same, because apparently it's trendy. It's not. The Germans, the Spanish, the French, the Italians don't do it. It was logical in England initially, but not in Scotland, so let's just have proper sensible names please.

A German friend asked me recently why Celtic Glasgow (as they are known here) are the only Scottish team in the Champions League even though Hibernian Edinburgh (again a German thing) won the Championship.

Why does it matter if someone from Germany doesn't understand the Scottish senior or junior naming. All the people that matter here can all get used to it quick enough, most already will be, don't see it as that much of an issue.

If the beaks had called them something else you'd get folk on here moaning oh why did they not just name it after the seniors leagues.

My German story was only a wee anecdote. The reason I don't like the Sfa league names is that they are stupid and illogical.

However as you mentioned, the people who matter know what it means. This implies that there's no point trying to make it easy for a potential new audience to understand.

But the new potential audience will all be Scottish and football fans will they not and already know what it is from senior football. Junior football isn't going to suddenly get brand new fans to football going to watch them.
